Best bank players in the world

Only one person mentioned Tony Fargo. Probably the best ever playing long rack. Hell it was just a few years ago he made an open offer to anyone at DCC to play some even long rack for whatever they wanted. Guess how many people took him up on that game?

That's right boys and girls, NONE of them did

I watched him playing banks at the Cape Giradau tourny and he still plays good. I hope Tony is doing ok.

Tony used to have a open invitation for anyone that wanted to come back the ghost against him playing short rack banks.

I've never heard of anyone else making that offer.

I know 2 different guys put the ghost in action back then, and between the 2 of them they were 23 games stuck when they pulled up. Tommy D.

yep i have seen the man walk up toss the rack of 15 balls out on the table take ball in hand and run 15 banks many times.

i wish banks was played more in miami. To live in a area where a guy can beat the ghost playing short rack would have to improve every serious player around him in banks. 15 banks in a row? holy crap

good thread!

I'm not disputing Fargo's ability as I know he is a great bank pool player, but I have been playing banks a long time and I have never seen anyone run a 15... especially in competition.

I did see Brumback run a 13 at the DCC a couple years ago. He ran the last 3 in rack #1, and then broke and ran 5 in rack #2 & #3 to run out the set. Then in his next match he ran a 12. That is the best I have ever seen in competition, be it gambling or a tournament.

You missed Brian Gregg's 31 at the DCC or something very close to that. It's mentioned on one of the streams where they are talking about him throwing out balls and not missing any of them + what a feat it was.

I witnessed the same thing.. The Worm is telling the truth, it was quite a sight to see!

Eddies challenge

Eddie Moore wanted me to post this. He said he would play ANYBODY even except John if they want to come to Paducah. He also said he heard about Shannons post on here and would play him even also if he wanted to come down.
I'm posting this at Eddies request.

Danny Smith

looked pretty sporty in the bank ring game winning quite a bit at $5 a rail with Richie Rich, Justin H., and few others. He also finished pretty high in banks dc last year.

since some people going back in the day for Fargo wonder why the GREATEST banks player ever wasn't mentioned. Eddie Taylor. If you had a time machine to bring a player forward for banks he'd have to be the one you got.

Currently i think Brumback would be everyone's choice as best the rest is arguable.

Mr Brumback

I'll try to be ready.... If anyone in the world wants to play some banks.
John Brumback.

I'm personally a John Brumback fan against anybody as a bank pool player and as good pool people. World class in both categories. Plus i hear you like our crappie down here...
I gave my word to Eddie to post his challenge to the others, so i hope nobody will hold it against me...lol

Greg Riggie, son of Richard Riggie.

You know Greg Riggi is no longer with us,he past several years ago, but you are sure rite he could bank with the best of them, some time ago Riggi played Jarbo 500 a game 9ball banks at bill n billies, greg was up so many games after about 5-6 hours ,then a much better in shape Jarbo come storming back to get even, that was one of the best matches i ever seen, Jarbo just wore out Riggi to break even, if they were to played races Greg would of won all the money, Greg was the better banker of the two, but not after 10 hours of play!

call

How much can we bet playin long rack bank in peducah???

He said he would bet it up pretty good Shannon and he will play full rack. Thats what he said today... You'll have to call him to discuss it, i don't speak for him and only posted the challenge at his request. i'll Pm you his number if you like.

The game has evolved quite a bit since the days of Eddie Taylor, and Brumback has been the one who has done the most to bring the theory forward.

With nodisrespect to Eddie Taylor or Bugs Rucker, the two names that seem to automatically arise when the discussion of greatest bank pool player takes place, I think Brumback merits serious consideration as the best bank pool player of all time, and is at least comparable with those other two legends.

I'm not suggesting that John is better than Eddie, Bugs, or Fargo at making bank shots, but I think his shot design is by far the best in the world today and, probably, the best ever.

Yes, you're right, I had heard some time ago that Greg was no longer with us. I wasn't sure whether the thread meant all time or current players. Greg could bank with the best of them. I watched him play many a nine ball match with Cigar Tom, as well as straight pool at Gentlemen's club in Reisterstown. Even in straight pool, which Greg was very good in, he amazed me with selecting many a bank shot for position, and always making it. It's a shame he's no longer around.
