Best cue for ~$100

My friend's girlfriend wants to buy him a cue for his birthday and she has about $100 to spend.

He's played on my cue which is a J&J, which he likes.
It's the following:

I could just tell her to get the same thing and anything with a decent tip is going to be better then the house cues where we normally play, but I'm sure there is probably a better bang for her buck out there.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

How about this?

I can give you this brand new for $100.
I play with one out of this same series myself.
They hit real good.
Please PM if interested.;)

J&J (also available from J&J America), Players, McDermott (lower end), Schmelke.

The J&J cues are okay from what I've heard. The McDermotts (I'd go for the C110 or C100) have a lifetime warranty. If you go for Schmelke make sure you get one with a standard size pin (not the pipe thread).

Rackem that's a pretty cool design...I've never seen points on the butt before. I'm gonna' have my wife take a look at it in the morning and see what she thinks....I was thinking about grabbing her one from CarlsCues. At her level, aesthetics are most important....we're still working on center ball and a solid bridge....

Good racks to all though,

Mattie

I just bought a Sneakiest Pete off here for 100.00 delivered....has a Kamui Black tip.....best damn 100.00 I ever spent

Huh, do you need a phonebook upside the noggin? Don't buy anything from the Assbag family. They peddle nothing but garbage and seconds.
Those Sneakiest Petes are a sweet cue. I have one that is very similar to Rackems and they play real good as well.

I agree....only thing I dont like about mine is, its 2 fat in the shaft for me..so im gonan turn it down some....and I personally dont like the G10 pin....Id prefer a brass 3/8x10 myself. This one screws down, but it doesnt give you that "Its snug feeling".. for some reason I keep checking it to make sure it hasnt come loose

Overall though...I give it a 9.25 out of 10

I've bought some cues from rackem in the past, and they were great cues for the money. One of my wifes friends has had the one in the pic above for two years now, and she loves it.

I think for the money, Axiom cues play good for a cue that retails $70-$100. I think Tony Crosby still sells them - not sure though.

IMO a plain McD is the way to go at that price level (it might be a touch more though). I own one of those Canadian Club McD's in a tourney one time and it played good. Perfect cue for a beginner or someone that doesn't want to worry about owning an expensive cue.

r360

you might want to consider a cuetec r360 series. they are the new
line of cues with new shaft and ferrule design . i got one to see what they are all about and i really like the way they hit and so does svb and allison
fischer.

anywho check out cuetec.com . they have a good description and diagram of the shaft and ferrule.

oh they cost mmmmmm...170-240 i think !

I've got a wrapless McDermott in very good condition. It has a black butt with what looks like a bacote handle with some nice wood grain. Let me know if you are interested, I'd be glad to send some pictures.

A low end Viking or Schmelke would be good choices too.

I would stay away from the cuetec stuff. They use decals and whatever coating they put on the shaft seems to get sticky.

I suggest creating a topic on the buy/sell forum and ask what everyone has available for $100. I have done this more than once and had many different options. Even some custom stuff.

In that price range, I have been thoroughly impressed with Fury cues. Some other solid choices: Panther (by J&J), Nick Varner cues, CueTec, and Poison (in that range?).

Try out a Minnesota Fats cue with the 8 and 9 ball floating in water in the butt of the cue, only 39.99!

Or more realistically, some of my friends shoot with Player's cues and like them.

Dieckman Sayzzzzzzzzzzz

Get a broomstick at you local hardware store and put a Le Pro tip on it and save $$$$75. Ceulemans once told me that given that he could still beat anybody in the world. Oh yeah, and take the remaining $75 and take him out to Micky-Dees a few times...................
