Best custom cue for $500 or less?

My recommendation would be a Josey. You can pick up a wrapped SP for around $400.

Mezz may be considered a 'production cue', but it is flawless custom quality.

Leon Sly is a superb cue maker that is known for his excellent quality. PM him and discuss what you want and I guarantee that you will be happy. Leon is a real nice fella, and you ain't gotta wait a lifetime to own his cue. good luck man.

You're going to have to state what you're looking for as well. You can find it a lot quicker if you say what you have in mind instead of just saying, "I want the 'best' for $500". That is a very shallow question.

You might ask, what some recommendations are for fancy SP's or plain janes or even 4 pointed cues in your price range. The more specific you are, the quicker you will be playing with your new cue.

These are production cues, I'm looking for customs.

Thanks for your offers, none the less

Thanks for the advice and I'll look into Mr. Sly. I have to disagree with you about being more specific. I'm getting a TON of great offers and they're all helping me decide what I want:wink:

Thanks for all the ideas guys (and keep them coming). I'll be making a purchase in the next few weeks

Not looking to design anything. I want something handmade, something that didn't come off of an assembly line, something that one man put his time into to make.

Kind of thought that is what you meant by custom. Glad you want to support a craftsman!

You have received lots of good advice about custom makers on this thread. I'll add mine. Contact Martin Bick at superiorcues.com. He may have another Carmeli Fancy SP available. I look at this cue as both a player (while I'm in Vegas) and an investment. All the right atributes. Two shafts, Triangle tips, 3/8 x 10 pin, 19 oz with perfect balance and hits a ton.

Regardless, good luck in your search. Hope you find what you want!

Check on AZB for a custom cue maker named Greg Sirca. He makes very good playing cues, with all the fancy bits, for less than you can imagine. He's listed in the Blue Book of Pool Cues. He currently lives and works out of Colorado.

Here's a set of gallery pics from my Greg Sirca that he custom made to my specs:

Price: less expensive than you think. I'm sure he can make you a cue for $500 that you would be happy with.

wood pin

these are all under $500.00

I think that the best that you will get for under $500 is a nice hitting sneaky pete from a wellknown cuemaker. The marhet amy allow you to get alot for under $1000, but not sure about under $500.

If you find a merry widow with a leather wrap in good shape built by a well known cuemaker for under $500, pm me and I'll take 3.

You might also want to post in the "Ask the Cuemakers" section you never know who has a cue on hand that meets your specs.

I'll be in the market for a new cue in 3-4 weeks. I'll be looking for a custom cue (read: not a production cue) with a 3/8 pin. I've owned several customs in the past and like the way the big pins play.
I'm not too picky when it comes to what I'm looking for, but I'll know it when I see it. The cue could be anything from a Merry Widow style, to a cue with points and inlays but if it has a wrap, it would need to be leather.

What are your recommendations? post pics if you can

Thanks for helping me decide

I know that this didn't seem to be your "cup of tea", but that cue Neil (Fuji-whopper) is offering for $350 is one helluva sweet deal. That is probably gonna be a very good-hitting cue and well worth the meager asking price. Beside that, even with what little I know about Neil I can tell you that he is a "stand-up" guy and will deal honestly with you.

If I hadn't just weeks ago ordered myself a custom butt from Dave Jacoby, I would jump all over this cue Neil is selling.

That's a great idea. I might do that in a few weeks, when my money is right

custom cue for $500 or less.

you can buy you a custom dick neighbors cue, either a merry widow or sneaky pete type cue.

You can find quite a few. Bryan Mordt, Josey, Diveney, Jacoby just to name a few. Jacoby has production cues but will also do a custom cue.

Keith Josey!!!

If you like a stiff hitting cue I feel that Keith Josey makes the best hitting cues at a very good price . I've got my 3rd SP being made now within the last 18 months. I sold my 1st one to my brother so he could have a great cue and then immediately ordered another one. Recently had my cues stolen and the very next day ordered another. Needless to say I'm a lifelong Josey fan!

Found a deal on a really nice cue this weekend. I should pick it up Friday. I'll post pics when I get home with it. Thanks for all the help
