I still own them
Now, to the best hit without owning it, just might be a Karl Mayer Titlist Conversion I had the opportunity to play with. Dayum!!! That was a Rock Hard Hit on that puppy! Next in line is a Dennis Kepley Titlist Conversion!!
End of Story,...Thank Goodness,lol!!
I have a 1985 Clay Etheridge(Showcase)Hustler Custom Cue made to my specs. Have played thousands of games with it. If I had to shoot a game for my life, it would be there. Since 1993, I have had a Gary Medlin(Gem) Cue that was designed by me and allowed some of Gary's artistic freedom. There is additional information on this cue that has a connection to the Tim Scruggs Shop concerning the Silver Cut Diamond Inlays. I wanted a cue with that stiff East Coast Hit, a la Szamboti. He nailed it. Now I have another Gem Cue, one that was built immediately after my first one in 1993 for someone else, which is my player today. These are the best hitting cues that I have ever owned. They will never be for sale during my lifetime. The main question I have is...if they were the best cues you ever had, why don't you still have them?
To me its my Gus Szamboti. I am sure though as my skillset increases the cue make will become less important. Case in point, I have read many claims recently about this guy being the best on the planet, most precise, etc.. or this guy that made less than 100 cues but can't install a leather wrap?? being the best hitter.. really? So the list of "pros" that are waiting for these cues must be insane.. no wonder you can't get one.
I plan on playing with a few different cues over the next few months. Will any become regulars? We'll see.. I hope so. I have a monster coming and its coming from someone that I am proud to call a friend, let alone my preferred cuemaker.
