Best Hitters

"Best" is in the eyes of the beholder and we all love the hit of the cues we own (as it should be!)

1) Barenbrugge ***
2) Jensen w/Buzz Ring
3) SW (Pau Ferro, Goncalo Alves & Rosewood)
4) Howard (I sold an Ebony Howard 2 years ago and should be shot:o )
5) Hercek
6) LeBow ** (Tried to sell one a while back, couldn't sell it and glad I couldn't !)
7) Olney

** Hits unbelievably smooth.
*** An "unworldy" hit at an "unworldy" price but probably worth it.

Best hitting cues

1.- Schick

2.- Balabuska

3.- Szamboti ( Gus )

4.- Spain

5.- Szamboti ( Barry )

To me the best playing cue is the one I've run the most balls with. I have an old MF which sets my record in every game, OP, 14-1, 9 ball, snooker, golf, 8 ball and banks. That being said, it's been retired for 15 years.

Now I play with a Schon. There isn't a cue that could play any better besides, it's the shooter not the cue and I don't play the speed I once did.

Rod

Wayne Holmes has that amazing ability to give you the feel you ask for. I have a SS joint with radial pin and one with an ivory sleeved joint. The feel is the same overall but you can notice certain distinct differences going to the ivory joint, differences that I actually specifically asked for.

Not to mention he is always dead on with getting your ideas to transfer to finished product just like you see it in your head.

The last two cues I purchased from him have settled nicely over a couple of months of serious use. I recommend this guy to anyone.

What about Dieckman cues? Has anyone tried them and if so, how did they compare? What were the qualities and shortcomings?

Sugartree
Richard Harris
Mike Bender
Paul Mottey
Les Blevens

I see we have a smart man here.....I couldnt agree more that Sugartree would be the top of the list.......once a man goes sugar tree he nevers goes any where else :D :D :D ......to me the hit is unmatched in the cue industry.....and of course that is just IMHO :D

I look back at it, and I couldnt even classify myself as a pool player.... until I got my sugartree   :D :D

My Scruggs hits sweeter than anything else I've ever tried, defiantly a keeper.

My old Rempe Meucci was one of the best hitting production cues that I've tried.

Piloted:
Mottey/Ivory Joint - 5/16 14

You mean you classify yourself as a pool player now:) Just Kidding Brickman.

I love my Gilbert. I was playing w/ a 314 but have switched to the Gilbert Shaft. It changes the hit dramatically (for the better).

I do admit that I have not played w/ a huge variety of cues - Meucci, Nick Varner, Players ---------- Then Joss, Dale Perry & Gilbert. ( have hit w/ Sugartree, Jacoby, Cog & a few others.

Gilbert - Best hit - IMHO
