Best Hitting / Playable Cue

What is the best playing / hitting cue you ever had, regardless of price?

1999 Dave Kikel "American Beauty", 19 oz., Ivory Ferrules w/ Phillippi boars hide wrap. Hands down, the best playing cue I have. That's 1 out of 20.

Capone.

I haven't tried as many sticks as many around here tho.

As far as I'm concerned ALL cues are playable and SHOULD be played with. They all work to if you get used to them.

Best hitting is either my Hercek SS joint, or the other one with an ivory joint. I don't think I'll ever make a decision.

Second vote for a Tad. It was a plain "Players" cue, maple butt and forearm with a Cortland wrap. I don't know what year it was made, it had a stainless steel joint, not sure what ferrule, I'd assume Ivory. I only got to shoot 5 shots with it and it felt like I was shooting on rails; every ball straight in the heart of the pocket. Hard really to say what was specifically better about it than my regular playing cue (A Dale Perry) but it just felt so RIGHT.

Never saw the cue again. Maybe one day I'll be able to stump up the necessary 4-figure funds to get my own. (If you'll excuse me I just need to clean out my browser cache and history to make sure there's no change my wife will read this!)

I'd have to say that the best hitting cue I've ever used was my father's Palmer, which he bought in the mid-1960's. The hit was perfect and so was the cue's balance.

My Mikklesen cue would be. It weighs just over 20.5 and has an ultra solid hit. It hits better now with the leather wrap then it did with linen, even more solid feeling. I have hit with alot of cues and none quite add up except afew other peoples Mikklesen's I have hit with have pretty near the same hit.

Honorable mention to a southwest I hit with, it was nice and similar to the Mikklesen in how solid it felt. Afew of the Schon I have shot with also have amazing hits, only good hitting cues I have ever hit with that had SS joints.

The best playing cue I've ever had is my cue. It's a Josswest, 60" and I prefer the JW Predator shaft. This cue is ebony and pink ivory, with an ivory joint and buttcap and a radial pin. It is only 18.5 ounces. I use an Elkmaster that I've hardened up. Needless to say, with the weight, length, and Predator, the cue is not what you would call conventional.

I like my South West. Made by Jerry, no wrap...maple handle, 6 high points of tulipwood into cocobolo. Very Handsome and super hit...imo. It's on the cover of the first Blue Book. Brad Simpson lives in town and the cue was his playing cue at the time that book came out. I went gahgah over it and finally got him to sell it to me after he got his new cue.

I currently have 4 cues that were built special for me by a guy named Mike Dorton. My playing cue plays as good as any cue I've ever picked up except one. A friend of mine who deals in custom cues always asks me to hit a couple of balls with the cues he acquires. Early 90's, he hands me a Tad he had got in a trade. The cue felt like a part of my arm and I've never hit with anything that even felt close to that one cue. Sam

60".....are you a tallish sort of guy Chris, or maybe not tall but have a large wingspan...or maybe just like the long cue?

I'm 6'1" and wear a 35 inch sleeve. I also have a long bridge, so the extra couple of inches puts my right hand in a good position.

Chris

Do most cases accommodate a 60" cue?
