I'm afraid the best moment for both teams was when the last ball was pocketed today.

My favorite moment was after Shane and Earl won the very first match for Team USA.

Jim Wych proceeds to conduct the post-match interview with the two of them.

Earl continues to have the deer-in-headlights look on his face the entire time, but he relays his thoughts to Jim, mentioning, by the way, that Team USA had Team Europe 12 to 1 in 2001 when Earl was Team Captain. Earl then said he's never been asked to be captain since and he did not understand why, since 12-1 is a pretty strong lead. :grin-square:

Then Jim Wych takes the microphone and puts it about 2 inches in front fo Shane's lips and says, "So, Shane, what's it like shooting with Earl as a partner?" You can see the wheels turning in Shane's head, as there's a brief pause. :o

Of course, the entire viewing audience is hanging onto his every word. What is Shane going to say?

In good form, Shane smiles broadly and then replies positively, and the interview continues. It was, however, that brief pause of Shane's that I loved, the expression on his face. :lmao:

If I can find the interview on YouTube, I will post it up.

Okay. Here's the first moment when Earl pockets the wobbly 9-ball for the almighty win. He's about to become unglued because the 9-ball wobbled and didn't fall right away. I'm sure he was about to jump out of his skin at this point.

Earl then composes himself and reaches his hand out to Shane to shake hands. Shane sees Earl's about to lose it instead of taking his hand, he grabs him and gives Earl a big ol' bear hug. ---> HERE

I loved that moment, and I love Shane for it. :lovies:

But here's the best part, during the interview, when Shane has to answer Jim's question about what's it like shooting with Earl as a partner. Just look at Shane's face right before he replies ---> HERE :D

my favorite part was when Boyes shook Earl's hand. i mean, i think Earl's one of the best, but his attitude during that match was really embarrassing.

I had to go to the dentist while this match was in progress, and so I missed the match, but came home to see the handshake ---> HERE

Karl did exhibit emotion, something I did not believe the European players were capable of. I stand corrected. :D

I thought Ralf v Hatch was the best game of the Cup, both men played some great stuff and it was a shame someone had to lose that match...

Earl deserved EVERY BIT of that handshake....every bit!!!!!

My favorite moment was when the shooter threw his stick on the table after making the final 9b to win the cup and the cue-ball rolled into his stick and there was no foul called. Obviously, the US was destroyed anyway, and there was 0 chance of them coming back, but a foul is a foul, and it should have been called.

when during Niels beatdown of Johnny, at about 5-0, Jerry said "the only thing Johnny could do now is to slip a rattlesnake into his pocket and ask him for a match"... :D

best,

Earl described the Mosconi Cup as "epic", I couldn't decipher what word SVB chose.... anyone get that?

Colin, good to see you posting again. The landscape here has changed a lot but many of us old timers are still around.

I concur........I have nothing good to say so I won't say anything. I think the best thing to for now is forget about it until next year....:frown:
