Best player never to have won a major

Has Kim Davenport ever won any of those? if not then thats my pick.

No, he hasn't, although he's won 3 Sands-Regency 9 Ball events in Reno.
This (Davenport) is a good choice also.

I like his intensity at the table. His finals match with Jimmy Fusco at the Sands Regency Open 17, (which Accu-Stats has, by the way) is a very nervy match to sweat.

I remember Bustamante on a TV match a few years back on ESPN, dont know the tourney, but Im pretty sure it was a major win, since it was on TV, and a pretty good happy celebration too...

i think you are talking about Sudden Death 7 Ball. He was wearing a pink shirt i believe.

Just for the sake of defining "major" for this thread, let's keep it to mean either a World 9 Ball Championship, a U.S. Open 9 Ball Championship, a Derby City Classic 9 Ball Championship or a BCA Open 9 Ball Championship..
If you strictly consider those as "majors", then you can't leave Yang out of the mix. Though, that's not really fair, because Yang only competes in the World 9 Ball. I'm sure if he competed in the other events, he more than likely would have at least one "major" by now.

But the crown for best player to not have won a major definitely goes to Busty. I think it's a rather large probabilistic anomaly that Django hasn't won a major yet. It'll happen.

Did Mark Tadd will a major?

No . Correct me if I'm wrong, but the biggest tourney he's won was the LA Open back in '92 or '93..That year he won the 9ball and the banks.. He placed second to Steve Cook in the One Pocket..He was on fire in that one!

So, in the discipline of 9 Ball only, who is the best player never to have won a title?

My vote would be for Kid Cole Dixon. Could blow the socks off of anyone listed so far, IMHO.

Thats funny, nice one.

Kieth has won the first ever $25,000.00 event in Bighamton.(SP)
Not included on the list, but pretty huge back then.

... and its still not a major title.

There is no shame in that, he is still one of the greatest players to ever play the game. Keith has had some very high finishes in some very prominent major championships and he's still a threat to win those tournaments today.

93 i think and its a shame he quit!

I think he also won a 30,000 dollar tournament in vegas in the early eighties ....

Busty, hands down, Parica coming at second maybe.
Then again, I wouldn't consider Derby 9-ball as a Major, probably not even BCA, eventhough it is already close.

It is hard to determin 'Major'. Sometimes I feel only 9-ball WPC and 9-ball US-Opens are majors from the annual event calendar.

There are All Japan Open and Japan Open, which are strong field tournaments with long history, but like DCC, I cannot compare those with the WPC and US-Open.

Busty has won many tournaments, which are easily considered as big or even bigger, than Derby at least, but he's not having a World Title under his belt.

Luat's win at 8-ball was some sort of a 'world title', but not official World Championships..

I agree. The only real "majors" today are the WPC and the U.S. Open.

The B.C. Open was the biggest tournament of the year back then. Everyone played in it and Keith beat a slew of top players to win it.

hows come nobody's mentioned me???

i'll be a minister of death, praying for war on the green felt jungle, once Scott Lee gets through with me...........

wonder why he didnt make it to olathe? that boy used to get down on the bar box!

I would say it's unfair to be put on this list if you're under 40

not too many majors and way too many awesome players
