Best US player: Archer or SVB?

i said if he were in that position. and archer is more than capable of putting a titanic beatdown on any human being.

Didn't JA and SVB get down a while ago?

Wasn't the busty match (mid 90's?) the last time JA tried one of the top Philapino's in a protracted match for long loaf?

didnt i say in his younger years? and no clue as if they have matched up before. and like i said he doesnt have to beat the phillipinos to know where he stands in the pool world. not too many people on the planet go lookin to play archer for money.... hmmm i wonder why that is?

Tourney play (9B) i like JA.

Any long rotation match for the cheese i like SVB,and, i also like SVB playing 1P

Str8 pool i like JA

Rib, you know I respect your opinions, but have you seen Shane play one pocket? He's not exactly an expert mover...Shane's a gunslinger, JA is a master manipulator.(and he can gunsling, too.)

No doubt JA is a world class 9B player, but, there are a few Philapino's, a couple of Asian's, two European's and one American i like more for the cheese.

It's OK for us to disagree on this and if a $$$ match materializes we may get a sweat bet down.

Take care, Adam

M,
i'm hard wired with some of the greatest pool detectives on earth and SVB is improving at Louisiana Hog Pool as we type.

A 1P match between SVB and JA would be gr8 to watch (imo)

A,
No "imo" about it....That would be one for the ages. I might even leave my house to go watch that match.

This match up could currently fall under the category of "if you lose you lose and if you win you lose".Short term profit vs. longer term stability and increased mutual earning potential."When" it does happen it wont be for 10,000.

It's all good man it's just speculation anyways. Archer is world class in 10 ball as well. And trust me i see your side of things, SVB doesn't have to lose to anybody. You got a sweat bet with me if they ever play. Have a good one man.

Please expound on that thought a little further...I'm interested in what you have to say.

Just to throw it out there, where do you guys think Dennis Hatch falls in the American Player pecking order? My honest opinion is that Dennis has been an underachiever in tournament play, and that his tournament resume doesn't quite reflect his talent. I'm not saying he hasn't won tournaments, but with his ridiculous amount of talent, I think he could have won far more than he has.

Tied for 3rd with Corey deuel. If both of those guys had the drive of SVB i think we would a have a 4 way tie for first.

You make a great point...Dennis hasn't played in enough major tourneys to establish himself as one of the greatest tournament players ever...But, ask any top player from anywhere if they want to climb in the box with him for some big cheese...probably not.

Hatchetman is a G'damn monster, and nobody has to like being the man in the chair against him...Nobody.

(FWIW, Hatch came in second to "The Rifleman" Buddy Hall in the finals of the US Open sometime in the early 90's...Terry Ardeno, sfleinen, or JoeyA could probably give us the exact date.)

And what is the pecking order in your opinion?
As far as reputation I think they're dead even.If handicapping the match,
SVB anything long-even if short.Slightly increased edge for SVB on both counts if they're playing 10-ball.But I am biased.

I think both of these players are awesome but I gotta say shane is the top US player by a slim margin. Shane brings the patience of Archer with the firepower of Strickland. So I pick Shane for that reason but Archer is still one of the most feared players on the planet and has the respect of probably every pool player alive so he really has nothing to prove.

In a race to 100, 10 Ball format I dont see any American getting to 90 against Shane. Just my opinion based off of what I have seen.

I know that no American will play him a race to 100 ten ball on a neutral Diamond. His break is just too much. Same with Bar Table 8 ball. I don't know of any US player who will play a long set with him for the cash. Actually I don't know of any player in the world who would play a long set of Bar Table 8 Ball with Shane for the cash.

Like I said just my opinion off of what I have seen.

Someone prove me wrong and lets get a match together.
