thats the game i'd like to see too. Wu is brutal, SVB would have his hands full, they both would for that matter,
i also want to see alex and yang tee it up. winner of both matches for the title of baddest man on the planet.

Just for the record, JA did not win the Swanee this year. He did win it in 2008 when he beat "Big Wave" Dave Hemmah in the final. Mitch Ellerman won it this year, beating Oscar Dominguez for the title.
Cool...thanks for the clarification!
I pulled the info off his web-site...and it was a little confusing...it had 2008 beside the tournament but showed the date as like early February 2009 or something like that...so I'm still not sure what that meant...lol

IMO Yang already has the title, and if anyone wants it they have to play him to take it from him.
I agree. Ching Shun Yang's got the title, and to be the champ....you have to beat the champ!
I would love to see Yang in a "pit like" environment like last years DCC when Shane played Efren. I don't really think it would affect his game at all, but I would still love to see it. 300 spectators is a dark, hot, overcrowded room, A slightly broken in table with not perfectly polished balls. Tons of distractions, no refs, etc. I love the players that can handle the heat...

I agree 100% with everything that's been said here so far... JA is all of what you guys say and so is Shane. As for the gambling comparison, I've seen Johnny match up about 30 or so times since I started playing this game in 1992. I've seen him give ENORMOUS weight to great players and make them all look like APA 6s. I've never seen Johnny lose a match for the dough, sets yes but he always got there before they quit. I think Johnny is the best player America ever produced also, but I also believe Shane has everything it takes to be the next Archer(IF there ever is another). odviously Corey has the talent but I think we all know it takes alot more than just that, damn shame too because I really think Corey has more talent than ANYONE american or otherwise...
I don't normally bump my own threads that are nearly a year old, but I would like to see some perspectives from the new people. Also, the established posters may have a different opinion now that many months have passed...
What do you guys think?
I think Johnny has an advantage in most games, because of experience(except 10 ball because of Shanes break). I think right now the best player would have to be Archer but Shane isn't going to let it stay that way for very long because like many have said he has the best work ethic of any pool player out there and is constantly improving.
I think I heard something on this forum about these two matching up. Shane said he wouldn't play Johnny on a Gold Crown and Johnny said he wouldn't play Shane on a diamond....I could be remembering this wrong though
Right now in 10-Ball I would take SVB over any American on most tables. If they play in Marietta on JA's pet Olhausen then yes JA is the favorite. Other than that, I think SVB tears JA a new butt hole. Kid is just too good and does not rattle, even if there is lint on the table.
I'm glad you bumped this thread. we need a new TAR match. Any coming up?
Not sure who I would bet on in this one. My heart says JA but after watching Shane come back against Donnie I'm just not sure.
i know it was a while back.... do you think archer would let alex pull out a 20 game comeback ( or whatever it was) like shane did. i know alex is a monster and everything, but i'd bet my soul archer wouldnt have gotten beat in that situation. that tips the scales for me and i know its super close.[/QUOT
imo JA wouldn't have gotten 20 games up...
Tourney play (9B) i like JA.
Any long rotation match for the cheese i like SVB,and, i also like SVB playing 1P
Str8 pool i like JA

i said if he were in that position. and archer is more than capable of putting a titanic beatdown on any human being.
