I say this due to my transaction with him.
I sold him a Predator shaft on Jan 10 or so. He paid with paypal. I shipped the shaft, along with 4 other shafts i sold to others, on 1/14.

Karsten says he never received the shaft. I shipped first class int'l mail from United States Postal Services.

USPS says the shaft is has made it to Germany customs and that they can no longer track after that. I was told the customs form number would track the package, but it only tracks to the germany customs front door and no further.

I told Karsten all this. So he went to paypal and files a claim. So i'm the one out.

Karsten first told me this is the second time buying a shaft from the USA and not receiving the package. When i asked him about this he changed his story and said he ended getting the package, but it was wrong item.

And then he has the nerve to say i could have sent him a empty package!! Blow me! I have a 100% AZB and ebay (beebop1941) rating.

I have done many transactions here with never one issue.

The post office says i can't file a claim because i didn't use priority mail and it comes with $300 insurance. I thought first class mail would be more first class then it is.

Anyway, this entire thing has pissed me off like no other. Make your own decision to deal with Karsten

Although I have never sent a pool cue to Europe, I do regularly ship collectibles out of the country.

Unfortunately, your situation is not uncommon when using the US Postal Service other then the US or Canada. Although some countries are better then others, things do have a habit of vanishing in customs.

In the future, I would recommend that you ship international packages VIA DHL. The tracking is door to door, and they have their own agents in customs so they cover the shippment to the end recipient.

Although they are more expensive, it is worth it
 
I live in Europe, Germany too and this is my best experience / recommendation so far:

Shipping is best with the FedEx Company. The costs are higher but to prevent these unpleasant episodes its a very good choice.

FedEx does the custom payment and all the work that is necessary for custom and after that they deliver it to the receiver. The Receiver pays all the Custom Fees to FedEx.

Both Partys have the tracking at all the time and everything can be proven.

Reply to his PayPal claim and give them the info you have from USPS showing the item arrived in Germany. This may help with the claim against you.

Unfortunately that won't help and there's no fighting this one. Germany is not a country that has confirmed addresses with PayPal so every chargeback dispute filed by a German buyer against a US seller, is a 100% lock to lose with Paypal.

In order for paypal to protect the seller against non-delivery chargebacks, the seller must abide by Paypal's protection guideleines, in this case delivery to a confirmed Paypal address and postive proof of delivery (which is available in no form Internationally via USPS). If you as a seller are outside of these guidelines you will always lose the claim.

From all the stuff I have seen on here lately in my opinion paypal is garbage and can get expensive when accepting money.

Yep, paypal does suck (from where i stand).

I did send paypal all the facts i have.

I will have to use something else other then the USPS in the future, but to be honest i will no longer ship outside of USA.

I even suggested that we split the loss, and the guy said no way! NICE.

Many here know me and know that when i pay, i always add a little extra, and when i sell i package items up nice and ship ASAP.

Did I misread or was there NO insurance on this package? Or can it be bought on packages across seas? It should have been insured and could have possibly saved you your money. Of course the guy might have been a scammer from the start also. Just make sure now you only accept money orders or something from Germany. When they ask why tell them why;)
 
I had the exact same thing happen to me when I sent something to italy. It was a $500 dollar loss.

i can't believe reading this. this is very bad style reacting like this, blaming a honest man who is waiting for something, he paid for. and you don't tell the truth either: i've never told you, that i have bought another shaft in us and did not receive the package.

i was always polite in our contact and did not gave you any reason doing this! i could proove it, by making the complete contact public,from my first pm here to my last email, but this is not my way solving problems.

i had to file a claim at paypal, to perceive my right for buyers protection in case of not receiving the shaft, noticing, that you can't claim a file at your post office, as i suggested, that's all.
i'm not that rich, i could blow $170 in the wind.

i have never blamed you for this problem (perhaps i could, because of choosing the cheapest instead of a safer shipping) and i still hope, this deal will be succesful for us both. but in the moment, you have the money and i have nothing, and that's a fact!

Either way, it's 170, no biggie to me anymore. I'm tired of the 30+ days of you saying you haven't gotten it and the postal service says it made it to germany.

take the money, but when if/when it arrives look at the date i shipped it. then you can lay blame to your customs.

Then, it will be up to you to pay for it. You can add the paypal fees in as well.

Last but not least, don't ever tell me or suggest, or even think that i would send a empty box. That my friend was what really put me over the edge.

So if I read this right you did not insure the shipment at all? FYI I believe Priority Mail does not come with an Any FREE Insurance.


When ever I send anything of Value with the USPS. (mail) I always purchase insurance separately.

I'm out the cash and you'll either already got the shaft or you'll get the shaft when Germany customs remove their head from down below.

Again, to everyone here, i recommend not doing business with this buyer or Germany.

I should have noticed that Paypal doesn't verify Germany address. I made the mistake of using "not so first class int'l" first class int'l mail from the United States postal service. I can only track to the Germany front door.

I thought they come with $300 standard and if you want more you have to pay for more. I could be wrong, wouldn't be the first time.

But my point it is first class is more like 8th class. Not very good. My bad.

Priority and Express mail come with $100 free insurance on International shipments. $500 is the limit on Insurance to Germany. I sent an Item to my friend in Germany just last week. USPS Express notified that package was at Customs and my friend picked it up,paying the VAT as well.Your problem is not with USPS,but with Paypal. Next time accept US Postal money order or Western Union,nothing else. You will never again have this problem if you do what I have outlined.
 
I'm fascinated about the different mentalities between Germany and USA.

I know Karsten, he's a well-known member of the most common billiard forum in Germany.
Assessing the facts he wants the item or his money back and only demands his right for discrepancies during a non-insured shipment.
And he did not start a thread in Germany like "Beware of Craig (cbi1000) from USA".

Just my 2 cents...

first: this is the most aggravating experience, since i've been around here in this place of like-minded peole! i really can feel my fingers shuddering, while writing this. i just cannot understand the behavior of this man.

it's just unbelievable, that he is pulling my leg, pretending to protect members from beeing scammed by me or my german fellows!

one more time the facts: i paid for a shaft on jan, 12th, did not get it until yet with no possibility to track it. opened a file at paypal after 39 days (edit: and an increasing unpleasant email correspondence) , to preserve my rights (never demanded a refund!), beeing blamed in public a scammer!

this is the most shabby attitude of a member of this forum, i've seen until yet! shame on you, mr. irwin! if anyone can bargain for this, when problems occurs after you received your payment: good luck and some nerves of steel!

and as a matter of course, i'll pay back your money for sure, you sent back to me on your own free will, if the shaft finds his way through the universe!

If you didn't use Priority mail it might not have gotten there yet. It might be sitting on a dock somewhere for 5 or 6 weeks.
 
The buyer send the money.
The seller send the package.

If the package didnt arrived then the postal office has to prove that it was delivered. And when they say it was delivered to the custom then ask the Custom what happened to the package. Now they have to prove that it was handed out to the receiving party.

btw. I heard that quite a few packages get lost at oversea shippings.
I wouldnt blame Karsten. To be honest..if i would not get my package i would also get back my money from paypal unless you can prove that it was delivered. If you have a invoice from the postal office then i would split the loss.
