Royce it has little to do with who anyone is, it's also not a knock on Brent.
Brent's cues look great and I am sure they play great. But when people make claims that his work is the best or better then "almost anyone's" it's just misleading and wrong, I know it and you know it. I have no issue with people giving their own opinions about how much they like the cue, but when the claim involves others and is clearly not truth it's wrong. His work is not better than almost everyone in FL, let alone the US or the world.

Is his work better than

1) Manzino
2) Searing
3) Showman
4) Mobley
5) Nitti
6) Tucker


I hate that this turned into a negative thing I really mean Brent no disrespect. I just think the post was misleading and not accurate and when people who don't know any better read it as truth it's not a good thing. So yuck it up and insult me all you want but I think we all (Brent included) know I am right.

I wonder how many of the guys you just listed appreciate you dropping there names like that? After you turned this into a negative thing

I think the guys you listed would agree that theirs things they do better than Brent and things Brent does better than they do.

Certainly criteria may vary, but I can say with absolute certainty that Brent is on my list of top 25 living cue makers. Just might take others a bit longer to see what I see.

IMHO, and I rarely have one. Brent is at the top of my list as a guy that has no bull associated with his reputation. He is a brutally honest guy and you have to take him as he is and I respect him as a fellow CM.

As for his work, "it speaks for itself" as a wise man once said. Just hold one of his cues in your hand and you will understand.

Cue making is all about tight tolerances and attention to all details. Brent understands those things the way I see it. Comparing one guy to another is just wrong. Everybody's got their own style and bend to the brim.

There's well over a thousand cuemakers.

In my opinion Brent is well above the 50% mark.


Therefore IN MY HUMBLE OPINION, his cues are better than MOST of the cuemakers for multiple reasons.

Your mileage may vary. I couldn't give a shit less about some makers cues that a lot of people praise on here. Couple are on your high and mighty list.
 
IMO others O doesn't matter, you have his cue, you love it, its YO. IMO thats all the O you need. what your O? IMO the negative poster is an O all in itself. :wink: this is making me think about onions. I;m hungry.

It's not a point of name dropping, and it's sad that this has Brent's name attached as I am certainly not trying to speak ill of him. My issue comes with a poster who is making grandiose claims that I am certain Brent would never make. I know that none on that list would make those claims either although some certainly could. It really isn't about Brent, it's all about internet morons who make silly claims.

This isn't a fight I am willing to further, it was just an observation about internet opinions, don't care if you like mine or not it's based in much more truth then the OP. But I get it you like Brent and you feel my opinions were somehow knocking him. For that I do appologize, but again IMO to make a claim that ANYONE does things better then most is just a dumb thing to do, IMO of course.

Better then most is certainly not 51% and the term better then most was not what I took issue with. "Better then almost everyone"

My issue was with the OP and not Brent or his work.

I feel people on the net should have a bit more responsibility with their words as I feel people come here for advice and to learn things. If the things are wrong or misleading it's no help to anyone.

I have seen many of Brent's cues here and they all look great, people who own them seem to love them, and by all acounts Brent is a wonderfull man.

I would dare to ask...What are your qualifications for stating what you have said? You have 88 posts here, but you speak like an authority on cuemakers and where they rank, so I ask: are you a collector that has had many cues thru your hands? If so, which ones and how many? Have you tried a BHQ Cue? Do you have any credentials to make you a respected evaluator of cues? As of right now, you just come off as an internet jerk, with no value to add to the discussion except to bash someone else's opinion.
The OP expressed his opinion, if you have a different opinion, start your own thread, and enjoy. If you have a problem with how the OP wrote his opinion, PM's could have been sent and you wouldn't look kinda foolish as you do right now, But ........ ya didn't.

BTW...you seem confused, so a heads up: this was posted in the Cue Case Gallery where it's ok to brag about the cue you had built or bought....It's not the' Ask the Cuemaker' section where actual questions are asked and are answered. Welcome to the forum.

You don't have to dare to ask anything, I didn't make any grand claims about anyone. I also did not "bash" brent. I don't feel I need to give any credentials for what I did and even if I had any to give they wouldn't matter in this case.

If I were the one making the claims or evaluating someone's work then possibly I should give credentials. I do understand that people here have a pack mentality and feel I somehow insulted Brent, and now want to attack and switch the focus.

My thoughts were very clear and not insulting at all, by all accounts Brent is not "better than most" and guess what he is in a very large group of guys who are not "better than most" the facts support my claims, being friends with a person doesn't change the facts.

I also get that a person can brag about a cue or cuemaker and that's fine, I believe it's fine in any of the sections. But when those claims start to drag in other peope for comparisons (like claiming they are better than others, and more specifically ALMOST ANYONE) you might get called out on that claim. The number of posts I have doesn't play in and holds no weight in this belief. I am sorry you took my opinion as a knock on your pal.

Ok, so here's my thoughts on your reply to me:

First, let me say that I would be happy to have a discussion with you or anyone about whatever, but I won't do it if I don't know who I'm talking to. So, if you reply to this post and that reply does not include any identifying information about who you are, there won't be a return reply from me.

Now, all I can say about this is that I am very glad that I don't allow myself to go around passing out judgement on others. I don't allow myself to feel that it is my place or responsibility to tell others what to do, or how to act. Let's face it, there's a lot of people who think differently than I do and I would go nuts if I felt that I had to go around fixing all of them. It is a free world and we are free to believe what we believe.

If I read a post and don't agree with it, I just keep going. If I like the things someone says or talks about, I might jump in the conversation.

It's kind of like business. The restaurant that serves good food is always busy. People just don't go back if they don't like it.

Are you angry that I gave my opinion, which BTW I am almost certain that you still don't really understand, so please prove me wrong because such outrage from you makes it clear to me that you have little clue about my post.
