Bill Incordona vs John Hager $10000

John Drew is great. He is one of the most colorful characters in pool. I used to hang out with him some in San Antonio is the late 90's. His favorite saying used to be "I like the nuts but I will play without them." I will be a witness to him and his gamble. He told David G once "give me a game on the wire and I will make you the biggest gambler in Texas." He would match up with anyone.

I have watched a young John Drew Hager totaly dismantle one of the best 9 ball gamblers Tony Watson three years ago at DCC in multiple 10 ahead sets for 10 dimes each. Drews dad made him match up playing tenball against Tony and he slayed him for three days, the night the DCC ended I walked in and they are matched up playing 9ball and John Hager Sr see's what they are playing and starts chewing Drew out about not making Tony play tenball. Drew says I just want to go back to Texas and tell them that I beat that SOB anyway he wanted to play and he did win the last set. I was very sad when he did not show up at DCC the next year for more action, the kids got game.--Leonard

John is a friend of mine and a very talented player. I love watching him in action and believe him to have loads of Heart. He would be wise though to listen to his Dad as he was a very good player himself and made very few bad moves when it came to matching up.

It is no secret that the weakest part of John Drews 9-ball game was his break. Playing 10 ball can often be quite an equalizer in this respect. Discounted, sound advice can often be very costly when the ego is involved. There are lots of lessons to be learned from the OLD SCHOOLERS.

I watched him play a lot that year as well and he does have a lot of heart. I was a little surprised that he beat Tony because at that time I didn't know how well Jr. played. I still bet against him playing Hennessee giving the last two and made a good little score.

I am glad to see him playing again and hope he gets to DCC next year because he will gamble with both hands. He has a lot of attitude and is fun to watch.

anyone know the location/# to diamond billiards?

Diamond Billiards is just off Plano Rd and 635. Heading south on 635 take plano rd and turn right to the 1st light and turn right and it's the 3rd building on the right. The place is a former Eastern restaurant of some sort.

There was a miscomunication last night.

Billy is 3 games ahead and they will resume play on Monday. Probably around 3pm.

I leave for Vegas in the morning for 8 days so maybe someone else can update this.

Thats the truth. Maybe the worst beaker and best player around. He moves fantastic. He does'nt get that many tic tack toe outs. If he has a monster break, he would certainly be well reconised as one of the best. Period!!!!

You said it.

I think I would have been the best if I could break beter, move better, had a good stroke, and could ppocket balls a bit. When on the rail, I play flawlessly. I just don't understand.

Me too, or neither do I!

I wouldnt ask a guy about how he was 9 up and lost a 10 ahead set, it just is the wrong thing to discuss-nobody would want to talk about that after getting to the hill and then having a 19 game swing against him. let it be.

Actually, Hager would actually not mind explaining this one. I heard him tell it in Louisville to some sweaters with me next to him to confirm the story as I know him personally and I assumed maybe "Ironman" did and is why I even mentioned it. I even think he posted about it on Southern Billiards as he used to do from time to time. SO,...THERE IT BE!

oh ok, i didnt know the details, i should have kept my mouth shut, but as a rule when your on the hill in a 10 ahead set and lose most guys would rather forget its happened, and yes its happened to me. thanks for clearing that up, i was out of line. sorry

Did they play today? If so, does anyone know how it turned out?

I stopped in there on saturday & watched for about 2hrs & they looked pretty evenly matched. I think Billy was 1 game up when i left.

I'm thinking of the color of money match (race to 120 between efren and earl that was decided by only 3 games). Eventually efren won, but if they had decided to play an ahead race instead, the only guy who got ahead much was earl (by 8 racks). So if they had been playing 7-ahead, the 'wrong' guy would have won. And if they had played to 10 ahead they might have ended up playing for months constantly being stalemated.

Earl was up 17 games, not 7. Had they been playing a 17 ahead, Earl had 'em.

Dave Crockett and Bill Bailey liked it so much they used it about 3 years ago. It is pretty catchy....and a great pool room as well. Anyone around Chattanooga should check it out.

Yep, I was a bit curious as to whose idea it was to play 7 ahead and whose idea it was to cease play after 8 hours and resume play. Furtherly, I'm curious as to what the deal is today if perhaps after 8 more hours, Bill is still 4 games ahead.

Billy has played a lot this week and I'm wondering if this is going to show up? He is in good shape and works out, still, for 63 yrs old, he has put in a lot of hours over the past week.

On the other hand, John hasn't played much in the past year and I'm curious how he will hold up. Just a few short years ago {2-3} I watched him wear down some pretty good players and he always seemed to get real tough after 10 hours.

What's the status on the match, now?
