I met a young man here in Raleigh at The Brass Tap one night. Claimed he was Luther Lassiters great nephew. He was studying at NC State. I have no reason to doubt him, he knew a lot of the family history. Nice young man said he was studying accounting as I recall..
Being from DC area and rememberting Jack and Jills and other Virginia pool rooms, to include all the Weenie Beanie hot dog stands, since my biological family lived in Lee Gardens in Arlington, I definitely know who Bill Staton is, but I had not heard of Bill Station.
The person in the photo looks nothing like Weenie Beanie, but it is a side profile. I guess I'd have to see a front profile of the photo to see if there's any resemblance.
That said, some folks believe Etta James is not Minnesota Fats' daughter. I guess we'll never know.
Little younger pictures of Bill "Weenie Beenie" Staton. The lower picture was taken as his pool room Jack & Jills in Arlington, VA. When this picture was taken, not sure, I suspect 70s. First time I saw Bill was in 1967 for an exhibition match between Luther Lassiter and Eddie Taylor. Staton did some trick shots then. First picture with the Jansco Brothers, obviously earlier.
