play your best 9 ball by phill capella and the pro book by bob henning are great.
I got a lot out of "Advanced Pool" by George Fels (who posts here from time to time), "The Pleasures of Small Motions" whose author escapes me at the moment, and, of course, "Winning One Pocket" and "Shots, Moves, and Strategies" edited by Eddie Robin. You might have to pay more than you want to get a look at the last two.
it's phil capelle, not to correct you, just to make it easier to locate. I also like the 99 crital shots by ray martin--and any of robert byrne's books.
Someone was telling me about a book that explains how to break in 9 ball comparable to how someone racks. For example, if the 2 and 3 are touching, you would break this certain way but if they are not touching you would break a different way. Does this sound familiar to anyone as to what book this could be?

48 page square bound trade paperback is not a pamphlet, I used to make books for a living. Good, but somewhat hard to find. I haven't seen the DVD set.
One Pocket, Winning One Pocket and Shots, Moves, and Strategies. Jack Koehler's Upscale One-Pocket, if you're just starting to play it.

The pleasures of small motions is by bob Fancier who writes for billiards Digest. It is the only bk written about pool psy-written by a qualified Professional in the Psy-field. Amagine that The billiard Enclopedia is a must for All. Sounds like you need some lessons from a pro. I think the best way to learn is watch and listen,listen listen.Practice Practice I think the Joe tucker stuff on the computer is very good,and Colin Condenso or something close,has a break u-tube video. mark

Hey Eric since you and johnny are pretty chummy. What do you know about Johnny's involvement in the past,the 1980's with Hal Houle? I was told efren,busta,jose took lessons from Hal other women pro's. thanks I hear johnny was to give credit were credit is due? point and pivot aiming system. mark I play on a 5-10 snooker your table is huge. When in amsterdam last 06 Dec. I played on the Rileys I ran 40+ 1 handed just the other day.Sunday mark

IMO If you can FINISH reading Pleasure of Small Motions you accomplished ALOT!!!!!! You are ready for the world when you finish that book!!

There is someone selling both of Eddie Robins one pocket books on onepocket.org. I have these books and they are a must for any 1P player. The first book I read was "Upscale One Pocket" by Jack Kohler. Very good, short, straight to the point book. I refer to it even today.

For one pocket, purchase all of Efren's matches on tape. Watch them everyday. Shoot every shot exactly like he does. Repeat process. Never lose a one pocket match for the next ten years.
