billiard scene from a bad movie

How can you never heard of the movie DeadFail?!

It is the sad story of a man who blasted the stack open shooting at a sure thing that wasn't.

It is a really sad story. Breaks yer heart every time.

Never heard of it either...but that scene was laughably corny and trite. B grade...Naw, worse than B grade. Makes Pool Hall Junkies look like academy award material.

"It's geometry really, isosceles triangles..."

I'm tired of quoting Mataya so I'll be absolutely using that in my next weekly bar box tourney.

I found the full movie to see the entire scene

From the street it said north Hollywood billiards
Does this ring a bell to anyone?

A super nice room full of beautiful goldcrowns as he walks in, looks like the other half is all Carom tables but I don't know the brand, but they look quality

Just curious if anyone knew of this room

Was this supposed to be serious? Or was it a comedy/parody? That shit was beyond bad...

I think they were serious. It has a rating of 3.7 out of 10 on the IMDB site. I think that's well below an F. Here's the box cover :

Nicholas Cage and James Coburn?!? You may remember Coburn from "The Baltimore Bullet" which was easily 10 times better than that scene from Deadfall and had real pool players in it.

And here is the director who is responsible for the remarkable performances:

A lot of people didn't like Baltimore Bullet. I couldn't watch it the first time through. But at least the acting was OK.

I've never heard of the movie before so I had to find it on the net and watch it. It was really corny but entertaining in a kind of goofy way. I was curious whom the technical adviser was for the billiards scene. The billiards advisor per the credits was Kelly Kendrick. For a bad movie, the cast was really strong. Even ex-Monkey Mickey Dolentz made an appearance.

I enjoyed the clip! I liked the camera work and the billiard shots. It was really beautiful work on some of the shots IMO. Some nice use of the mirror etc. Other shots could have been done better. On the whole they did a good job of making Sheen look like he could play, at least for someone who's not a player. The music was nice.

The acting was God awful, but it's all Sheens fault. The dialogue was crap and Charlie was a very poor casting choice to begin with. He's not exactly the cool and calculating bad guy. He's more of a high energy "good guy" type.

While Charlie managed to lag very well (how many takes did that take?) the other guys effort was comically bad. It was also strange that they used pool cues rather than carom cues. I guess the movie makers thought the metal joints looked cool. Also having one guy shoot with a black shaft is often used in pool movies, because there are shots where they have to have a stand in do the shot, The black shaft is used to easily show who's shooting, though with the ridiculous getup they had old Charlie wear, I don't think it would have been much of a problem anyway.

Mickey Dolenz, what they couldn't get Barney Rubble.:D

The first shot shown, the cross table 4 rail is a high level shot

The finger snapping is what we Carom player's do
We also commend each other on nice shots throughout a game

That masse I agree, was poetry In motion,

Thanks for getting me the name of the billiard advisor

photo of kelly on page 2 of the pdf, still an active player

It's interesting that they chose 3 cushion as the game of choice for the movie scene. Usually it's pool and a bunch of trick shots. I watching the clip that someone with a strong 3 cushion background was the technical advisor.

Thanks for the info on Kelly.

I'm surprised they didn't cast him :)
