I knew the title of this thread would get your attention! :thumbup:

It seems that in today's pool advertising market and media stream, sex sells more than good pool playing.

Now, I know this Billiards Babe can play her some good pool, but I personally can't stand seeing pool sold like this.

You can see Jasmin Ouschan on ESPN Saturday, as they will be airing the semi-final match between she and Ga Young Kim (she lost to Kim) at the Generationpool.com 9-Ball Championships. The event was held last month in Charlotte, North Carolina.

She is quite a pretty young lady, even if she can play pool! :p

Hey, I think I recognize the background of this picture, but I may be wrong.

Isn't this Turning Stone Casino in Verona, New York, the place where the cigarette smokers hang out? I used to smoke, and smokers know these kinds of things. I spent many an hour outside in the "smokers lounge" at Turning Stone Casino.

Jasmin turned WPBA (World Professional Billiard Association) Pro in 2007, and that year took 2nd place at the San Diego Classics and 3rd at the Enjoypool.com Open in Las Vegas.

She's just a young'n, 22 years old, and yet, she's accomplished more in her pool-playing career than a lot of veterans.

She looks too tough in this picture. Look at that killer instinct in her eyes!

Jasmin is a natural blond. Takes one to know one too! :wink:

Here's an action shot! She gets right down on the cue with her chin, like Jose Parica does.

I am quite relaxed, though. It's Saturday, and I got no jobs due today. :)

I do have some jobs due Monday, though. :frown:

My point of initiating the thread, Gatz, was twofold. One, I was letting everyone know that Jasmin would be on TV today. Two, I personally don't think a player of Jasmin's caliber needs to have sexual appeal sell pool. She is so good that she can let her stick do the talking. It helps that she is pretty, but if she looks like a toad, would there be an article about her in the pool media? I wonder.

She probably wouldn't be in the media as much as she is if she wasn't so pretty. Definitely agree.

I just found it funny as I was scrolling down the topic I see jam,jam,jam that's all. Just looked like you were talking to yourself hehe :D. But I guess all that information doesn't fit in one post?.

Actually, 13,000 characters is all you are allowed in one post. I discovered that yesterday when I was trying to condense all the contest entries into one post, to make it easier for OB to select a slogan. It took me 2 hours to do it. :smile:

I often will post multiple times in a thread in an effort to attach multiple pictures, which is what I did in this thread.

The way I attach pictures, if I were to attach three pictures in one post, then they would come up as LINKS and not PICTURES.

Sure, I can go to Photobucket and other websites to insert IMAGE LINKS, but this is the way I attach pictures.

I might be wrong (as usual), but I believe the logic behind this thread goes against other things you have supported. Why is it wrong to use "sex appeal" to promote pool when at the same time you support TAR (as we all know I do), which is gambling, I mean two-man tournaments, lol. Alot of people have rallied around the re-emerging IPT, even though it is financed by someone of low moral and ethical standards. Everyone talks about pool pushing through to the forefront of sports and reaching the next level. Everyone knows that sex sells, just wondering how that is so much worse than the other avenues we (as a market) have chosen to accept as viable strategies to increase the interest in billiards?

Maybe it has something to do with me being a female, Beav. I personally don't enjoy looking at the fake sweat glands in forum members' avatars and degrading sexual poses, but these images seem to bring others enjoyment.

Sex is used on TV to sell many products. I just don't like seeing it used to sell pool, and I'll bet most of the lady pros don't like it either. I think they would rather be known for their pool-playing capabilities. :smile:

Me personally, I would rather see pool sold on its merits of good pool being played.

Now, as far as TAR and action, that concept is being sold on good pool being played, not the physical attraction of a female wearing a G-string up the crack of her rear end, bent over like a prostitute on all fours. I mean, really. Is that what pool is all about? Not for me.

The strategy I would like to see sell pool, IMHO, is excellence on a field of green, not how big the player's genitals are. :embarrassed2:

Take sex and gambling out of the equation of pool, and what's left? Maybe, just maybe, it's the skill of pocketing balls consistently. Have you ever watched a volley in tennis, when the two competitors hit the tennis ball back and forth over and over and over again? The longer they go, the more exciting it is. Well, THAT RIGHT THERE is what I'd like to see happen to pool. :)

Im just joking Jam. I would much rather watch 2 top girl players duke it out, than two Playboy bunnies in bikini's, playing pool. I mean come on there is no contest pfffffft
 
Although "sex sells" is no secret, I dont feel that the success of the WBPA is based on that principle. The women on the WBPA are the top professionals in their sport and are exciting to watch and they conduct themselves in the most professional manner. I also feel that coed tournies would help the sport grow. JMO.
