I just found this out, from George Michaels...

Just to let everyone know, Billy Palmer had a stroke last night, in his hotel room, and was rushed to the hospital. He was rooming with George Michaels, who had traveled to the tournament with him, and George said he couldn't talk or anything, when it happened, about 11pm. George was on his way to the airport to pick up Billy's wife this evening. Apparently the doctors have given Billy a good chance of recovery. That's all I know right now...:( Best wishes for a speedy and complete recovery Billy!

Wow, that's a tough break. I sure hope he comes out OK. My thoughts are with him tonight.

Get well soon Billy. A very nice man and great player who "let" me donate a couple hundred to his travel fund one year at the DCC.

Very sorry to hear this news. Here's hoping/praying for a full and complete recovery. Wishing you well, Billy.

I hope Billy comes out of this ok. He is a good guy and a great player whom I have the greatest of respect for--even though he put me back to work back in '99 ;-)

I would also like to place a prayer into the mix for Billy. A real good man and top notch player.

I had heard from a player there that Billy was only kept in the hospital over night for observation. He was going to be released Sunday if there were no further complications.

Billy's a grinder... he will and has in the past overcome difficulties.

Recovery is just a small step for Billy. All the best big guy.

They're keeping him a couple of days for observation and testing. It will take him a little while to fully recover. He may be out of action for a bit.

God Bless you Billy, My family and I will be praying for a full recovery very soon.
I met Billy the year in D.C.C. when he came in 2nd to Efren.Had good fellowship with him and of course my prayers are with him now.LES

Billy has been among my favorite players since early in 1988 when he came into Palace Billiards (Market Street, San Francisco) and challenged Filipino Gene. It was the first time I had seen a truly powerful nine-ball break, and Gene himself said, "That's the best break I've ever seen." The match went for about an hour, and Billy was a perfect gentleman throughout. As soon as Gene made the winning nine ball, Billy extended his hand, saying, "You're the best." I've introduced him several times, at our tournaments, as "The only California player to beat Efren Reyes in one-pocket," and I'm 90 percent sure that's true. Billy's one-pocket tournament championships in SF are legendary already. Let's all hope he has a full recovery in record time.
