Back in the early 80s Bill and I were playing a $100 race. He put so much pressure on me that my nose started bleeding. I was playing with a Balabushka purchased used for $125. I got blood all over the Cortland wrap. Bill took my money and we became friends. A few years later we tried to build cues together. Didn't work out. Bill went on to build gourgeous cues. Talked with him a few months back. He had a poolroom in Columbia. He had some serious health issues mainly with his heart. He sounded good in spite of that. R. I. P. Sad news. He was good for our little corner of the world.
Very sad news. We lost touch after he retired. Great guy, great Cue maker. Bill had some good stories.

Two weeks ago I rediscovered a blank I bought from him back in 2005. 17 years it sat in the tube he shipped it in.
I emailed Bill and got a response on Feb 26 2022. The timing of all of this is bizarre.
20 minutes ago I dropped it off at the post office to be shipped. David Brainard is going to make a beautiful cue out of it.

Yeah, I’m thinking tribute cue too.
Sorry to hear this. Billy was a great cue maker and he played pool really well too, I met him a few times in Olathe at shooters and had the privilege to play him in the tournament, he won hill hill after I left him end rail to end rail on the 9 and he banked it like he as shooting straight at his pocket 6 inches a way.
Sorry to hear he has passed. I used to have to play him in a couple local tournaments here in Seattle back in the late 80s and early 90s when I was playing a lot. He always had some good funny stories to tell and I never saw him in a bad or irritable mood. He was quite a character!

i had the pleasure of meeting and knowing Bill in the mid/late 90's after he moved to the mid-south
we sold about 15 of his cues out of my pool room in addition to a handful that were shipped to dealers, esp those that liked butterfly spliced cues
when he felt decent he also enjoyed playing some
unique guy who was fun to talk to
