Black Heart Tips

Has anyone else tried the Black Heart tips? They are black layered tips. I have tried one of the M tips for a couple of weeks now. I would put the hit similar to Kamui. It mushroomed just a little, but not a lot. The hit actually seems to be improving slightly as it is getting harder. I have not decided if I want to add another Brand tip to our line or not, so I just thought I would get others input on them.

there is now way i would pay more than $30 installed for a tip just like $30 for a piece of chalk

so far, so good

They seem to play 1/2 grade harder than listed.

I've installed several of the Soft BH tips & they've been well received by players who normally bought a Medium tip by M, K and E brands.

No more mushrooming than other premium layered tips, comparable performance & life and I can offer them at a slightly lower price.

I watched the install vid last night on UTube. Nice lathe you used for it.

The $100 dollar tip might scare me just to hold it in my hand let alone cutting it.

Quite the process that is involved over the years to get the leather ready to be made into a tip.

However, I do know that the $100 tips will never be part of my inventory so I won't have to worry about cutting one.

No offense to you, Blue, but I know many people are busy & don't necessarily read every post. And some just don't absorb everything they read. For example, post #3.

Just to make this absolutely clear, BlackHeart makes a line of regular layered tips that are cheaper than Moori's, Kamui's & Everest's.

That is what I'm cutting in the video.

Virtually everyone who has tried one has been satisfied with it.

Bob,

You always have great Utube video:thumbup:.

No offense taken Bob as I did take the time to click on the link and go over the entire page and his product line.

That is why I made the comment of being amazed at the years it takes to process the leather for the hundred dollar tip. I actually read the entire write up.

And I also figured that you weren't cutting the hundred dollar tip.

I pretty much absorb anything and everything that is written in the Maker forum, otherwise I would be wasting my time trying to learn.

I check your page for regular updates as it is one of the most informative sites in existence. I have been known to copy pics from your site and make text files to add to my instructional collection. In fact, I have a folder within a folder with your name on it.

installing a tip

Man i would love to install tips for 30.00 ea where is your tip i will put it on for 30.00. I charge 35.00 for the tip and installation kamui, onxy, moori sniper.
Plus clean seal and wax shaft.
IF you pay list for a kamui tip it is around 15 to 22 bucks.
then there is glue, sand paper, alcohol shaft sealer polishing compounds.
wax. the lathe and the power to turn it. and meeting up with the customer at the pool hall.
and i think im not charging enough to be honest.
i havent raised my prices for 6 years but at the end of this year i will be raising my price 40.00 for the tip and intallation
I average 40 min to replace the tip and clean reseal and wax.
but i also give a free wooded tip shaper away with every tip
replacement.

I also warranty all the tips i install on 2 pc cues , if the tip is layered and falls apart i warranty it out of my pocket.

I had a BH "mediumistic" installed on my 3c cue 2 weeks ago and I think it is the best tip I have ever used. It ribbons nicely when being cut which I have found only the better tips, it mushroomed once very slightly after a few days and has held shape perfectly since. Hit is on soft side and I really like it and having another put on my other shaft.

I didn't realize anybody looked at that stuff. I do it because I can't stand to watch reality shows or sitcoms.

Oh trust me, I wtach them, and anything else on your website that I can. Your videos are well done and very informative, the WHOLE website is a wealth of information for a newbie like me. Can't say thanks enough.

Has anybody tried this $100 tip? I was talking to someone the other day and didn't think he was serious about the price?

I installed one of the BH E series tips (hard, black leather, pink wear layer 3rd from bottom) this week on a customer's cue. It seemed well made, trimmed cleanly, and looks good after installation. I'll try to get some feedback on the performance, as the owner plays quite a bit locally. Maybe I can hit a few balls with his cue if we run into one another at a pool room.

Ditto on the former comment regarding $30 not being excessive for a high-end installation. I charge $30 for Moori or Sniper installed, and am considering raising this to $35. I've been at $30 for about 10 years. This does include adding a base pad if needed, a shaft cleaning, small ding removal, and re-seal, and appears to be a very competitive rate in the Dallas area.
