I am looking to have a black Stingray wrap installed on my cue.
Which cuemaker would you recommend. Looking for good quality
work at an affordable price (any price ideas ?). Thanks for your
answers.

Based on all the Stingrays that I caught and returned growing up as a kid in Homestead, FL I would say they feel like sandpaper.

I am sure most of high end custom cue builders can put on any wrap you request with good quality of work. However, afford ability maybe in question along with waiting time because, not many have dealt with Stingray wrap, and from what I hear, stingray skin is quite a task to work with...

I think I heard Joe Blackburn has done Stingray work before and I will pm you his contact information if you're interested. He's work is very solid! Many posters here can vouch for his quality of work being premiere.

Stingray skin feels like a smooth surface covered solid with tiny little round plastic pellets maybe a quarter to a third the size of a BB.

yeah, I have had a stingray wallet for YEARS, it is tought stuff.

Feels like maybe 60 grit sandpaper with a coat of epoxy

thats right when your fishing, what he is talking about here feels like plastic beads, its shiny, next time you come to visit i will show you-and hurry up man, we miss you here!!!

My friend had the stingray skin wrap put on his Prewitt and hated it. Had it removed real fast. To many lumps and bumps and looked like crap too.

Sand It

Stingray can be sanded smooth. Then it feels more like leather, but with a little more grit.

And it still has a pattern of little circles in it, and can be died any color. The French call smooth stingray chagreen. It makes a great wrap. And I've hardly ever seen it on cues.

Stingray can make a great wrap. It is very slippery and luxurious to the touch. Be sure to use a big skin, so you have more options.
Here's a photo of my brother's cue.

I have a stingray watch strap and belt. Stingray almost looks and feels like it is imitation plastic leather. It wears like iron. Those little bumps are bone. If you sand thought the skin you expose the bone and it looks like inlaid ivory. This is also popular to create designs or to just give it a little more character.

I have also thought about have a stingray wrap. I think it would look and feel nice.

Ever since I purchased my first Chalkys-by-Ken stingray chalk holder I thought how it might work as a wrap. I like the feel of the chalk holder. I can just imagine the fell of the wrap.

Where is the best place to buy from????
