Hi guys could anyone of you name 5 pro players that use bluegrass as their playing cues and another 5 players that use southwest as their playing cues. It would be of great help for me, what is it that makes these cues so special.

At one time...Billy Incardonia swore by SW. I have an Accustat where he calls SW "the finest cue made".

George plays with a Rick Howard cue. Before that it was a McDermott. Before that who the hell knows.

Xiao Ting Pan plays with what looks like a South West. The veneeres in the points look a little hinky, it might be a "South West style" cue.

I dont know who uses the Bluegrass cues (pro) but although I dont own one, I think they play better than the new southwest cues. A friend and I complared 2 of each cue, shooting several different shots throughout most of a day at his pool hall. We both came to the conclusion that although they both have a similar stiff hit, the bluegrass seems to hit, sound and feel better. I would definately rather have a bluegrass if I had to pick one. If you call Richard Harris, He will be able to tell you which pros shoot with his cues. Richard's number is 937-927-0025. IMO Deacon
 
I agree Deacon. I also like the Bluegrass hit better than SW. I am not crazy about some of the fancier designs but I think the most bang for the buck playability wise is one of his plain cues. The shaft work and finish is outstanding.

I do not remember her name.Many years ago she played in WPBA events.She is from a small college town south of Indianapolis.She played with Blue grass

I have an older Accu-stats where George is playing phenomenal 9 ball. I think they mention he is using a Southwest. This is 10+ years old though.
 
Troy Frank played with a South West for a long time. He doesn't anymore though. I don't follow the pros much. I seem to recall Mark Jarvis using one but that was a long time ago.

Thanks guys keep the infos flowing, could anyone explain me more about bluegrass cues what makes their cues special, anyone know about the construction. Really excitied in receving a new one. But seems from the post that it would be a better option to go for southwest, mebbe next purchase.

Maybe I'm biased because I know Richard and Donna, but if I had the option of having a Southwest or a Blue Grass, it would be Blue Grass every time. Yes the hit is similar, but Richard and Donna make one hell of a cue for the money. Balance, fit & finish are second to none! In my opinion, a Blue Grass cue has the best and most figured woods out there. I also really like the micarta ferrules they use. Also, I like the fact that they do not core the handle and they do not use CNC to make the points. Everything cut my hand. The hit, although subjective, is second to none in my opinion. Stiff and hard just like I like it!:D

I think that I remember Steve McCannich(sp) using a Bluegrass at the DCC several years ago.He finished real high in the banks tourney that year. I know that Richard Harris used to play pretty jam up with a southwest himself back in the late 80's or early 90's. I guess it's no coincidence that his cues play similar.
