Doh.. I was checking M-Th.

Edit: I just booked a 2-star(reviewed at 3.8 or something) in Manhattan for $280 for a Wednesday night. That's like a whole freakin week at the Oregon coast in a house. Figure just about anything's a deal now after seeing the prices out there.

Vegas is usually not bad during the week unless a big convention is in town or its a long holiday weekend but if you want to stay Friday/Saturday and are just booking cold with no deal it can get brutal.

And how much would it be with tax and resort fee ($25/day) and the tax on the resort fee? For the days of the Mosconi Cup, the total at the Wynn booked direct is $250/night (Sun-Thu). Through Travelocity it is $730 for four nights or $183/night. Early December is not high season.

Also note that the Travelocity "listed" price is $139/night but the real price is $183.

The extra 10% could bring it down to another $13.90/night. I tried to look it up on Amex, but apparently I gotta be a platinum and I'm only a costco. :( If I used the 10% promo with my Amex refund, I'd get it down to about $162, I think, after all is said and done. On top of that, you could get bonuses through Travelocity possibly.. I know Expedia gives you a 10% credit to use or something towards future travels.

Yeah, that's why I kinda facepalmed after I reread it and saw Th-M, not M-Th. I remember visiting my brother near San Diego probably 6 years ago or something. I tried swinging by a friend's place in L.A., but he wasn't home. Was going to get a room until I realized even in the crappy areas I'd be paying at least $100. Slept in the car and took a shower at my bro's place when I got there a few hours later. Last year when I did a short road trip to CA, I hit up all the places for deals and usually found places around $40 to $60/night. Still in shock over Manhattan on a Wednesday night. Next summer, I think I'm gonna hit up Groupon/LivingSocial for a deal on Long Island. Getting tired of this 'work' stuff, need to start my empire.

Vegas - hotel rates

sorry! i was out-of-pocket yesterday!

1) i don't know why MatchRoom, hasn't negotiated rates & blocks for all of us & its players, & posted the DISCOUNT CODE herein

2) but we can do it ourselves - i've been doing it for years - you don't have to be a "player"/comped.
(and i'll take that WYNN bet, WATCHES, per my TX account's receipts!)

- i just booked trip #3 this year, for 2, air & hotel, ATL to LAS, 8 nights, at Mirage....$750/ea. airfare is so high @ the past 3 yrs ($550ish), that the hotel is basically free. (cost was $700/ea, for 2-3 nights)

- if you can find a cheaper flight-only, then call the hotel DIRECT. not the 800#. get to the FRONT DESK. tell them you're thinking of coming BACK again.... you just left there X months ago, etc. book DIRECT w/ the hotel. or maybe throw out that you stayed @ X-competitor hotel, but your associate stayed w/ THEM....what have they got to offer you? and oh - you can stay 2 nights, OR, you could stay 4 nights....

bullshit & experience

- JCIN, Strat has been $25/night ($40 for suite), for 5 yrs. all day long. same @ Luxor, which is down the street from you & yours @ $33/night @ 3 night minimum. i know that Strat isn't the best (although the restaurant @ Top is!), but it's $25. i've heard that MGM is now $60ish, but i've never stayed there; know many who have. let me know if i can help you? maybe you're too tall. or your skirt isn't short enough....

- i can't disclose how i get upgraded to penthouses @ N/C after 8 yrs, cause yáll would take my room!

see you @ Mosconi!

Ok book Sept 19th - 24th at The Wynn, no casino or player rate. I'd love to know your secret site or method that is 33% off their pricing.

i can't - we're in Miami that week for a show.

but i will say, that i just won a side-bet, on your response time.

I need your help in understanding what is happening here? It seems the the big Fatboy announcement, which was cloaked in secrecy due to non-disclosure agreements he made personally has morphed into the Johnny Archer's big announcement that he has big things to announce but they are covered by confidentiality agreements.

So. Are these big things great already or is that confidential too? It feels a bit different but you know how it gets when you are all excited. Big things brewing and all. Its like presents under the tree. You can see they are there, but what's in there is covered by the confidentiality of wrapping paper.

Thanks for any light you can shed under the cone of silence.

Not exactly, more like someone told you that there is a tree, and that the tree has presents beneath it, really great presents. We have actually seen nothing at all, we have only heard of the existence of a secret sauce,
but, so far, it amounts to nothing more than the proverbial dangling carrot.

My question: At this point, why would anyone, including those who have already been deceived by BB, even give a damn?

Who are the players gonna be? Hi profile players leaving/ left Vegas and all.

You know if we have heard of a few leaving, there has got to be far more that have done the same.

If some big-bucks guy or organization takes on a Bonus Ball project, you can be sure that many pros would be happy to participate (regardless of where they are physically today).

I've predicted before on this - they either cut 3 man teams into 2, or cut the # of teams down. They don't really need that many pros (and that much cost) to sell the product.

This will also lighten the impact on other events/participation.

Makes sense to me anyway.
