Bonus ball, know how I can tell it's a fail?

Looks like they forgot to find a professional marketing director to promte this and work within the industry to get the best possible "PR" as possible... whoops

the sad part is there are plenty of people in the industry that would of help promote BB for free. But when you talk down to everyone like you know everything those people disappear quickly.

I do understand that streaming is not BB's primary business. That's ok.
But if it is not in the business plan, why not stream for free? And/or upload all matches on youtube and promote the hell out of it? That way it would become a better known product and more valuable for TV stations/internet channels? In the end, the more people know about it, the more people watch it and the more sponsors/money you can attract.

I also think a little introspection into the players lives/characters/grudges could be showcased during half-time and it would also add value for sponsors/potential buyers.

I am not a business guy, so maybe I'm saying something silly.

i am a biz man and your correct, the $$ from streaming is small, if they streamed it free more people would watch they talk and that means even more NEW people watch, then it grows.

putting a price on the stream is penny wise and pound foolish.

I think it's great for team play. One thing I really miss is the league play in Germany. If that type of team competition EVER made it to America it would change pool forever in the USA for the better in my opinion.

your right about that, they dont get it in America.

Online streaming is great because its live and on schedule. We love the support from enthusiasts who are willing to tune in to the streams, but the reality is that's never going to pay the bills. We're not trying to offend the online fans, were simply being honest that it's not the priority. We're trying to work towards creating a product that will work for TV, and that will take a few weeks. Once it's ready, we will pitch, and start promoting.

Matchroom doesnt put its focus on online streaming as it's not the target market. The masses through broadcast is. That doesnt mean they don't care about enthusiasts. No one is offended by that, and with good reason. WPBL is very similar in that respect.

Well said. A position stated clearly and with respect.

Bonus Ball consists of Larry the Canadian, two pool players, and two cameramen from Canada.

Unbelievable.

Is this the best you can come up with?

Wasn't long ago in one of your posts that you were blaming Johnny Archer for leading the
other players down the garden path and not caring about anyone or anything else but himself.

I think it might go a little deeper than 5 Canadians. Who are the major investors?

I bet you might change your tune if you found out that that the major investors, the ones that are making this happen with one persons idea, were anybody but Canadian.

Maybe American, maybe Asian. Then you would have someone new to blame. Without their money, BB wouldn't have happened.

I mean, The players themselves wouldn't have anything to do with it. They are just looking for a steady pay check.

As in the past, present and future, they will follow anyone with a bag full of money and a pocketful of dreams to sell.

If that doesn't work for you, you can blame Larry's Mother and Father. Then go back a little further and blame the English and French that landed on the east coast of a large piece of land, later to become known as Canada.

Little early for you to be posting. I'm used to you dragging on AzBilliards about 3 a.m., your time.

Diverted a little time early to AZ Jen. I was out in the garden and heading back out in a bit.

Crappy weather up here for this time of the year. Hoping for a bit more sunshine and heat
so my little plants will grow.

Also hoping for some sunshine on pool in general so that can grow as well.

As far as the scheduling conflicts go Jen, many of us have been posting about it for some time now.

We are on the same side re that one. Just not the blame the Canuckians for everything bad right now.

Believe it or not, we do have many goofy Canucks up here as well. We don't know what to do with them all so we send a few your way with hope that they will stay.

Look at all the good actors we gave you guys.

Tommy Douglas, one of the best Politicians ever and the Father of our Health Care System is Keifer Sutherland's Grandpa. Bet ya didn't know that.

We do appologize for Jim Carey tho.

I have MANY friends in Canada, some in the pool world. Played poker with Luc Salvas, watched him play pool many times. Love Ronnie Wiseman, watched him many times, been on his side and against his sidw. When we went to the Glass City Open, there were quite a few Canadian players that I made friends with. We went to the horse races with a couple of them, and I hit a bit one. I have nothing whatsoever against Canadian folk. I have their pictures. I'll post 'em up later when time allows. Maybe you can tell me their names. Some of them, I forgot but recognize their face, Joe, Frank, and a guy with a long pony tail.

I do, however, not care for a Canadian company coming on American soil and disrupting American pool for their own gain. That is what I don't like. Nathan, Dave, and Larry just happen to be Canadian, I guess. If they were Nigerian, I'd say the same thing.

Dag, most of my photos are on another computer, which I have yet to put back together, but here's one of a few of my Canadian friends. The guy on the left, I think that's Joe. We partied for a week at the Glass City Open, along with the guy on the right and his lady friend. I can't remember his name, but he sure was cute. :o

By the way, how many Canadians are playing in Bonus Ball?

I can understand that. Its just that the Canadian this and Canadian that get a little old after a bit.

The ethnicity of the person that came up with this idea has not much bearing on the impact and the future of BB vs other Pro Pool events.

You gotta get past that and support what you believe in just as I am doing.

I knew that Chib and some of the others were Canadian but until you brought it up, I never thought of blaming any of them for the country that they were born in.

I just thought it was plain rude to be talking to the Pool promoters the way they were and seemingly not trying to make any consolations for their actions and trying to work out a solution for all.

Nice pic and all but if you hadn't mentioned that they were Canadian, who would have guessed. We look kinda like you guys. Well, except in the winter, and then you can pick us out pretty easily. We're the people wearing ear muffs and toques.

My favorite Canadian player, besides Ronnie, is Luc. I have trouble understanding him sometimes. He speaks a little English, but with a thick French accent. His wife and daughter came to the IPT in Vegas. They were so beautiful, looked like models. You could see Luc was proud as punch of his family, letting them see him perform. It was kind of neat.

Luc and Keith both play super fast. :)

Are you sure they are Canadian. They look American eh!

Jesus! Do you realize you've posted 50 times today and the day isn't even over yet? You need to get a life outside of AZB.
