Brand New Pool Table Projection System.

A projector for drills and layouts is a cool idea, but it's really only going to have benefit once it's small enough to be portable/usable with a smart phone.
I'm pretty sure both systems use standard commercial projectors that are mounted permanently above the table. An interesting feature of the PPB system is that it corrects for keystone distortion so the projector doesn't have to be mounted centered above the table. I assume that the new system does basically the same thing.

Yes, it does. My projector is 8 foot away from the end of my table and 8' high on a 10' ceiling. The projector can be used from the side or the end of the table.

No, you are looking for a video camera that records. This is a computer/projector that everything is "projected" on the table. Bals, cue ball, cue ball circle that shows where the cue ball must be hit to track, etc.

Sorry, I was thinking more of a training system that shows you what you actually did like www.cue-md.com or smartbilliardlighting.com ..

Someone give me a 9 or 10 ball rack picture. Hopefully, one your having trouble with. Send a PM to me and I'll give you my email address so you can send the picture. I'll print the picture and set it up using the ICA projection system on the projector and will show both pictures. So much easier to set it up again using the projector. I'm new at the system and it will take me 3-4 minutes to set the balls up.

Some of you guys(you know who you are) are pathetic losers. If your not interested....just crawl back under your rock.

What's your level of play?

The sig says Mark Gregory, RKC leveling system, projector.

I can hardly wait for a cell phone projector that can project 4,000 lumens of light to light up a pool table. When do you think that will occur?

So it is like digitally putting down the donut holes on my table? Any idea what this system will cost?

Seems like a cool and convenient training aid, cost effectiveness will be a big factor. Holee re enforcement tabs are fairly cheap

This is the topic in a nutshell.
Most of us here have full time careers and not a lot of time to dedicate to training on a daily basis. Personally I have 1 to 2 hours if I'm lucky to dedicate to training on my home table. I am a big fan of the reinforcement donut labels as well.
The other day, Tor Lowry released a cue ball control .pdf on his Patreon page and I was ready to tackle of head on. So I have it printed out and in a training binder to flip through the pages for easy reference.
I had one hour to work on it and long story short, I spent about 15 minutes of the one hour referencing and changing labels. And that was just the first page.

So, the next day I want to do the second page, so I remove the old labels? What if I want to do the first page and second page? Should I practice with a table full of donuts after preplacing 2 pages of drills?

What this system proposes is that I can manually enter in these drills and save them and then click through them with a wireless mouse on the table. So, now I can spend the entire hour drilling and clicking through the drill setups.

This is a cool feature for those who can afford it. I discussed a little with the developer on the future of the program and he said he plans to have training packs, for example from Tor, where you just buy the pack and then drag and drop it into the program. There are a lot of possibilities and anything to make training more efficient and streamlined, is advancing the sport IMO

I would like to see a cross reference with the checkbilliard app for maximum efficiency.

But for now, I'm interested in being a test dummy for the new software. I really like how the cue sports are advancing with the times. Cf shafts, HD stream tournaments, digital training projection, virtual coaches. Unbelievable stuff. These are exciting times if you are a pool fan.

I have PPB and like it but find it to have some "clunkiness" that is a limiting especially in this age of amazing computing technology.

The mouse is really touchy and hard to control and keep track of which is annoying. This makes it a chore to mark balls out on a live layout. And then to save said layout is another very primitive problem. By the time I get done marking a nine ball rack with the mouse I'm ready for a nap, not a drill. Much less saving it.

I have long believed the concept of this is awesome but thus far it's very cumbersome to use creatively to the potential in one's imagination.

There should be a much quicker and easier interface for importing and creating layouts and saving/organizing them. If this new system has made this quick, easy and slick count me in.

I have owned PPB and this new system is light years ahead. You will really enjoy it.

You have it all correct. I know you will enjoy the program.

Put me down also for a built in vision system that detects all the balls on the table and auto-marks them.

Maybe the developer can partner with matchroom and the US Open. Have their system on the table. Take snapshots is each shot, and then Provide a layout of each rack of the championship match. Then the consumers can replay it on their own table, and shoot the shots just like their favorite pro did.

It’s good to have competition.

You are promoting this system in multiple threads on multiple subforums, so I will ask the question that is on multiple minds:

Are you receiving any commission, spiff, bonus, rebate, kickback, airline miles or happy meal vouchers for your review?

Of course he isn't. This is simply a guy taking a few hours out of each day to proselytize a really great product. That happens to be unfinished. And still in development?

Chuckle.

Nothing will come my way. The developer is my friend and pool teacher. To me, he is as accomplished as someone like Chet Atkins for guitar playing, but his expertise is in pool. He is teaching students and working day and night on this project and I'm hoping for it's success. I think it's a great gift to people that want to learn the game of pool. I'm am the first customer and a AZB member.

Actually, the computer software is finished and is available for sale. Only the videos, websites, photos have not been finished to advertise the product. But, that will come in a few days.

Well then its obvious the developer is Robin Dreyer ;)

If you receive the system, you can load any pool table ball pattern in a very few minutes so you can do it all yourself. Tomorrow, I'll break a 9 ball rack, take it's picture and then demonstrate it all laid out with the projector. Only will take a beginner a few minutes. I'll show two pictures. One with the real balls and one with the projector showing the layout.

-Do you still need the same type of projector that the other system needs?

-Does it need a computer? Or is it a standalone system? If a computer is needed, does it work with a Mac?

-Will the developer offer updates to the software and/or hardware as the system improves? Will they be free or paid? You mentioned the main problem with the other system is the developer stayed stagnant. Who is to say the new one won't do the same?

-What is the price? What is included in that price?

I agree it sounds like a great impromvent over how I do it now. But wouldn't you also agree that it would be better still if you:

1. Broke a rack or threw balls on the table.
2. Pushed a button.
3. The layout is instantly saved, including all OB's, and Cueball.
