BREAKING NEWS --> Introducing "The New Hustlers"

Hope they can see fit to do this without Ross's irritating girlfriend. She was always enough to make me change the channel

Every show needs a character you love to hate.

That said, if this ever happens...hell yeah, I'll tune in.

If our show ever comes back I guarantee you Finny will drop this thing like a bad habit and run back. I hope they fire him and let me resume that role, people will like better including all my cast mates.

I heard Jim Murnak is tied to this but I can't confirm that since it's only rumor. Better be someone with deep pockets cause our little show cost millions to do.

Jim Murnak's name appears briefly at the very end. Didn't he do that Sharks "TV" show. Hmm, not so sure about that one...

I would think there would be some rights issues with TruTV, having several of the same characters in the same pool room and then calling it the (New) Hustlers.

Probably not good idea to have a legal battle with Ted Turner..just throwing that out there.

Well, maybe ya'll should have worked a little cheaper! Just kidding. Actually enjoyed the show greatly. It got my wife interested in pool for the first time. Hope ya'll get another shot and good luck in the future.

Jim Murnak tried this (or something similar) a few years ago. I can respect taking a risk and trying to make something happen but in my opinion the concept doesn't have legs. The production value in the trailer is a mixed bag as well. Some of the photography is pretty nice but yet some parts look very bad and sloppy (the shot of Jorge, Raphael, Frankie etc... ) Jim, if you want to make this trailer look 1000000x more creditable, give me a call and we can work something out.

If they get rid of Finnegan, then the show might have a chance........he's one of the main reasons the first attempt failed.......he's just noi interesting or appealing in any way and his vocal qualities, as well as demeanor & personality, are his biggest drawbacks .....dump Finnegan who's much more of a distraction than a attraction for the show.....and keep in mind I'm Brooklyn, born and raised too so I should know......Finnegan is a putz.

Give it a chance

I am all for giving this a chance. Eventually someone will find an idea that works well for pool. But to give up on someone before seeing a full episode doesn't make sense. If people really want to see something great happen for pool players, help out any chance you get.

You look just like that pool shooter in your footer, same stance, same angle, same everything, except you have hair. :grin-square:

I agree with Cleary. In fact, I would put Cleary in that group of players. His quick wit and comedic value would complement the other members of that group who may not have as much personality as Cleary.

Jim Murnak should make that connection for the benefit of this endeavor. :)

Real pool is for the players

I'll try to answer some questions about this. This reality show is designed to make money for players. The idea is to do videos of team matches with the Real Pool rules, put them up for sale and the players get their friends and fans to buy them in support of their desire to be pool players. They will receive 80% of the money from the sales and each player will have his own playlist to buy from so the money will be directed to him.

The pool will be real. No set up shots, no faked shots, no scripts. We will be taking real reaction from the players and the real result of the matches, no matter what it is. The players will have to put up money to play in the match and the winners of the match will take 80% and the losers will take 20%.

As far as Finnegan, we understand that he will do the other show if it comes back. We are not depending on him to make this work. He is just a willing participant. He picked the name The New Hustlers for the team. It is not the name of the show. If the cable channel has a problem with it, we will see.

We will be looking to get video from other teams in other parts of the country, edit it and put it up in our system so they can make money in the same way. They don't even have to be famous, as long as they can get people to watch the video, it will work for them.

The reality show idea has only to do with trying to get outside people interested in the personalities of the players and their stories to hopefully bring on more viewers.

And yes, maybe the production won't be perfect, but it will be good enough for what we have to spend on it. Nothing at this point. The Hustlers cost millions as far as I understand and that is exactly the reason that I think we have to do it like this. A relatively small group of people made money and as soon as there is any problem, they are gone and it may not come back. It always depends on "them", but now it will depend on the players.

This, hopefully, will be a way for players to make money for themselves without an outside hand either closing the door or taking all the money.

Thanks,
Jim

Have you ever heard of this guy Michael Wong -- he is looking for a way to finance his dream to be the next Earl Strickland. He is tremendous in self marketing so I would suggest you reach out to him.

Beyond that, there is only one kind of video on the internet people will pay for.......

Best of luck.

Actually, thanks to Pornhub, they don't even have to pay for that kind of video anymore either.

Yawn...

Would like to see a show that centers around guys like Stickland, Hall, Varner, Sigel, etc. each taking a potential Mosconi Cup canidate under their wing in preparation for next December or December '17.

I don't see any other premise as having a shot at success. Maybe, Matchroom and/or ESPN would roll the dice on it.

I'd pay to see how these hall of famers would tutor a top professional mentally and physically.

I really liked the last one. It was an entertaining TV show. If you just want to watch Pro matches they are all over youtube.
