Palace Billiards, in the basement of The Ritz, closed permanently several years ago. The pool room on campus is alive and well. Oh, and that 'big college' is called the University of Montana.

Why in the world does any room install 8’ tables. Reminds me of the crappy rooms in Texas

Maybe they got a deal, money over research.

I question people wisdom like where I live, dumped Gold Crown II & III’s for $250.00/table.

Replaced with Diamonds, why. Sold stupidity imho 🤮.

the tables are okay at the u of m. but it isnt a poolroom just a bunch of pool tables and students banging them around. but a place with 9 footers.
The "Game Room" as it is called at the U of Montana, has sold off 8 GC. Only have 7 left. The room now has a bunch of computers set up for online gaming. New director also teaches a gaming class so he got rid of tables for computers.
So....not much for pool here in Missoula.

Computer Games are multi-billion dollar biz. It is what youth want, not to have to practice long time. Instant gratification is what young people want now.

True enough about instant gratification being what young people want. However, it is what all people want, it just hasn't been on the table. Pool halls have lost the gamblers to poker machines and casinos, mostly older gamblers. Hell, they bus them in from the old folks homes for instant gratification! A human failing, not one of young people alone.

Video games aren't "instant gratification" by nature, at least to be proficient at them. It takes lots of time to become skilled and more time and practice to become "good" at it. Just like anything else...

Video games certainly are more appealing to younger folks, tho. There is no question about that.

My only complaint is the table mix. Need more 4 1/2 X 9 and no 8 foot and two less 7 foot. If you're a serious player and are willing to put down your cash every month I would believe that bar tables make you puke. Or, at least the do me.

The problem is the minority don't represent the majority, and it takes the majority to support a place like this.

yea that part of the equation doesn't make sense to me; join a pool club to become better at pool but not on regulation size tables.. just weird. other than that i like the idea, i think this kind of setup will become more and more common

So you need a 9ft to win on, you can't win on a 8 or 7ft?

Well, let's see, to the South is Oregon and Nevada, East is Montana and Wyoming, and West is Washington. Does that answer your stupid question?
Don't forget about Utah - we are still down here. I would sign up for this in my area for sure. There are zero places with any decent 9 foot tables around here and only one with decent 7 footers that I know of.
