Brunswick Anniversary prices

I ran across an Anniversary at a pool hall, it's a 8.5', restored but not set up. I don't know if the rails have been brought up to speed of todays standards, or the pockets tightened.

The price of the table is $4,500 with new cloth. Is this a fair price?

I'm holding out for a Diamond if it comes my way, but this table, and Anniversaries in general are beautiful.
I know it won't play like a Diamond I have read, but I've never played on one anyways, I have just noticed how lively the cushions are.

Is this like a Gold Crown? if not, price is high, i'd buy new $3000- 3500 for home use table from Brunswick, or check pool halls that are closing out, many are out there?

No, it's not like a GC. It was Brunswick's commercial model prior the Gold Crown being introduced.

They are beautiful tables and have more value than a beat up GC but condition is everything. The price seems high though because it is not a 9 footer.

If it's an Anniversary and 8 footer --it's too much money--you can check on Ebay for pricing. I just did and saw a great deal on a 10 Anniversary snooker table for 2400 buy it now price--If I needed a table and had the room I'd jump on that and but some pocket rails on it and make a heck of a great table out of that and still be cheaper than what your talking of.
If it's an Anniversary Centenial that's a different story, they can get expensive...hope that helps

Fair Price for Anniversary?

Hi, Lucked Out.

A "fair price" for an Anniversary is dependent upon its condition, availability, and the lowest price that both you and the seller can agree upon. Size doesn't matter, unless you have a distinct preference.

I think an Anniversary in very good condition would sell at $4,500 in Dallas. I'm familiar with used table prices in that area. I would not speculate on Oregon prices.

To make "very good condition", though, it shouldn't have any dents, cracks, or chips in the rail caps. Same for the solid wood parts and wood veneers. A few light scratches might be acceptable. Slates close to perfect. All metal parts would have to be clean and dent free.

Dents, chips, scratches, broken slate, etc, would lower its condition to good, fair, or poor. In those cases, I'd just guess a reasonable price for good condition at $2,400......fair condition at $1,500...... poor at $500.00 or less.

Hope this helps a little. Good luck to you.

Thanks all for your replies, this gives me something to go on.

Like I stated earlier, I'm still holding out for a Diamond in the next month or so from a reliable source, but this one in the back storage room at the local hall caught my eye like a pretty girl that no one else noticed:embarrassed2:

Playability is #1 though. I might have to go back there in the next few weeks and take a look at her again, see if she winks at me, and rethink if I was just feeling desperate or not:cool:

Playability-wise you should have no concerns provided it is set up by a good mechanic. Anniversaries play wonderful.

Anniversary's are beautiful well built tables with modern rail construction.

$4500.00 is towards the top end of the price range. It includes cloth. Simonis or off brand?
Does it include moving the table to your house and assembly or just the cloth and you're responsible for move/install?
For that price it should not need any work other than level and recloth.

At the newest it would be around 60yrs old. You need to really check it out before you buy.

Check the slate seams for chips or cracks. Sometimes the dowels will split the slate.

Check the aprons. Its common for Anniversary's to have the bottom edges of the aprons split off.

Check the slate backer boards and the underside of the rails. Stapling over the years can erode the wood.
If its an early model the pockets nail in. Check to see if the wood is nailed out.

Check the cushions and pocket facings. If the facings are original they may be dry rotted and falling apart.
Cushions are likely to be ok, but may need to be re-glued to the rail.
If the cushions need replacement it is a can of worms because that profile is no longer produced.
The subrail angle needs to be adjusted to accept a modern cushion profile.

It is very common for the rail bolts to be over torqued (they only require 10-12 ft lbs)
Make sure the figure 8 nut plate screws are not stripped out.
The figure 8 plates are recessed into the rails. Over tightening rail bolts pulls them flush with the slate and strips the screws.

Thats all I can think of off the top of my head.

Good luck and enjoy whatever you get.

These are Sport King rails but you get the idea with the staples, facings and cushions.
No figure 8 plates on these rails
The rubber on these is ok but needs to be glued in places. Facings (thin black strip covering the transition from cushion to wood inside the pocket) are dry and need replaced.

Great info Moonshine, just what I needed to hear upon my next inspection.
I don't need a headache problem child with things I've overlooked. The table comes delivered, setup, new Simonis 860 hr.

I'll be sure to look under her dress and make sure the mileage isn't too high. Thanks

This is my Anniversary, work was done by Moonshine Matt, 860HR Tournament Blue
condition is very nice there are some dings in the top of the rails but they have no effect
on playability. Don't think you can go wrong with an Anniversary that's set-up right
