Buddy Halls health

In an update from the IPT, Deno announced that Buddy Hall will not be competing in Vegas at the Venetian. Due to some type of health issues, he felt he couldn't be competitive, because of the long matches. I hope it's nothing serious and wanted to wish him a fast recovery. He is one of pools all-time greatest champions and I know a lot of people here have a tremendous respect for not only Buddy's playing ability, but as a person too.
Best wishes to you Buddy!!! Sam

Satman,
Thanks for the info. Buddy Hall is one of our sport's all time greats, as a person and as a player. Two thoughts come to mind when I think of him, the 1st being his iincredible cue ball control. I think he has the best cue ball I ever saw. The 2nd being his infectuous laughter. When he is doing commentary on an Acc-Stats match and something bemuses him, he has such down home charm to his laughter you just feel good for him. My prayers, thoughts and best wishes are extended to him.

Good luck to Buddy and his health, hopefully he will be back at 100% soon. In the meantime, I was happy to see Vilmos Foldes get his spot in Vegas next month, he's missed getting his tour card by one win twice so he certainly deserved the nod.

Buddy is a great guy, I hope he is ok. I've watched him play many matches (some against my friends) here in Florida.

I've always said it, if Buddy was in better physical shape and health - it wouldn't be just Strickland/Reyes talk and fame...he'd be right there too if not THE top. The man struggles through matches and is visibly exhausted, which obviously hinders his ability to compete match after match against top pro's in long tournaments.

It's amazing how he plays now with his age/condition!

Wow, it sure was a shocker to read Buddy wasn't going to make the first IPT tournament in Vegas, but I'm glad to hear that he'll be at the next one.

Buddy Hall is in the BCA's Hall of Fame for very good reason. To me, in my younger years, Buddy's name was always bantied about as an action man with one of the most beautiful strokes in the business. His cue-ball placement is extraordinary when he follows his patterns.

One trait I admire about Buddy Hall is that he never has a bad thing to say about anybody or anything. He is heralded as one of the best in the business, always a crowd favorite at any event he attends. Though he's not a political animal, another trait I like about him, he has garnered the respect from all within this culture, and rightfully so.

Picture of Buddy Hall signing some cue-balls, never hesitating to please the fans! Here's wishing him happiness, peace of mind, and good health in the coming months!

Last time I saw Buddy at the Bike, he was wheezing really deeply.
I hope he gets in better shape.
The audience is going to miss him.

Buddy is the pro's pro. Many pros won't be able to play as good as he once did but it sure would be nice if they learned to act like him. One of my first roadtrips with pool, we planned & met Buddy & his road partner Woody at a tournament in Indiana. He graciously put up with my stupid questions all weekend, got second in the tournament to some young kid named George Breedlove & then we enjoyed a steak together before busting the owner of the pool room.

Buddy Hall is the second most famous person to come out of Metropolis IL (the first, of course is Superman). I wish him the best health & recovery. Glad to see that the IPT will have no problems allowing him to miss a tournament & return for the rest of the tour.

Id say more than 85% of the pros act better than Buddy.

Buddy gets upset pretty easy-he has severe flailing arms disease and he waves that stick around too. He never met a rack he liked either. That being said, he is still one of my favorites to watch. What a stroke, what a cue ball!

Jennie, have you heard what Buddy has been afflicted with? Flu? Asthma? Heart problems? I sure wish he'd take off some of that fat-- he's gonna kill himself if he doesn't. I hope he's back hitting 'em straight soon!

Doc

Hope his health improves.

Hope Buddy gets a handle on his health issues. Would definately like to see him school some of the younger IPT members!
