Tony is a tough closer. Not what I wanted but what I expected.
I gave it up! Usually the options as a player are to not get in the calcutta and probably get ten or fifteen percent or buy fifty percent and get fifty percent return. Sometimes the calcutta buyer has no choice but to sell the player fifty percent if they want it, and buy before the first match. It can get funny with buyers deliberately hiding from players. I think the player should be able to go to the TD in cases like this and put the money in escrow. Other places though, the buyer doesn't have to sell any part of the ticket. Jeanette Lee got in a big hurrah about not buying 50% in a timely manner once.
I have seen player's mood sour over calcutta happenings. They can play poorly or drop out the tournament. I have seen that, players get in action and drop out leaving the calcutta buyer holding the bag! Lots of angles, I think it best to keep the player happy.
