tony won 5-2 after a couple of really nice finishing shots
Actually, I don't bet on pool at all. I did not say "I do not mind the ethics" here. What I said is that the ethics are irrelevant and observation trumps theory here.you do mind the ethics as you don't bet on players that dump unless you are a fool or in on it..
and you never buy the whole calcutta anyway. you want the player in so he isnt likely to dump you.
you dont have that much the best of it in the first place in calcuttas most times. and to then give up a piece of your total action as a free roll to a player easily might turn your equity in the bet negative.
of course people that dont bet or bet small, think oh if i won big i would give that guy or someone a bunch of money. but who has given them a bunch ever.
if you want give out whatever you feel is best for you and him. i have no problem with that.
Strongly agreed. Despite the passionate efforts of both Matchroom and many AZB posters to defame him, he is as honest as the day is long. There is no way Joshua Filler would dump. What an unusual turn this thread is taking.
Poker boomed with the all of the TV coverage.that is the big problem with pool. the best monopolize all the money. they need to change the games or rules in such a way as lesser players can win or at least get into higher payoffs. otherwise its doomed to be what it is now. and cannot grow. in this country.
they did that with the poker and it bloomed into a monster. and have a following of other than just hard core high stakes players.
and have growing events as more cant wait to get in for a shot at a big payoff.

finally!!
More than once here in town she did that, trying to big time people and seeing if she had a favorable draw.Tony is a tough closer. Not what I wanted but what I expected.
I gave it up! Usually the options as a player are to not get in the calcutta and probably get ten or fifteen percent or buy fifty percent and get fifty percent return. Sometimes the calcutta buyer has no choice but to sell the player fifty percent if they want it, and buy before the first match. It can get funny with buyers deliberately hiding from players. I think the player should be able to go to the TD in cases like this and put the money in escrow. Other places though, the buyer doesn't have to sell any part of the ticket. Jeanette Lee got in a big hurrah about not buying 50% in a timely manner once.
I have seen player's mood sour over calcutta happenings. They can play poorly or drop out the tournament. I have seen that, players get in action and drop out leaving the calcutta buyer holding the bag! Lots of angles, I think it best to keep the player happy.

poker is too, until they made it exciting to watch. with colorful players , big money, and good graphics not terrible streams.Poker boomed with the all of the TV coverage.
Pool unless you are pool player is boring for the general public.

Poker opened up when they started showing hole cards.poker is too, until they made it exciting to watch. with colorful players , big money, and good graphics not terrible streams.
no body wanted to watch poker with a 200 dollar buyin or even a thousand or two.
and when an unknown gets to win a major tournament his state and home area goes nuts. and the tv gets coverage from all over.
unknowns dont win pool tournaments the outcomes are predictable. it is a true test of skill. but watching skill over and over isnt fun.
