Bushka Experts need your help

HARD to tell from even your GREAT pics but, if it's not, someone did a GREAT job of making it look like one.

Does the bolt which retains the butt cap screw into a "tang"?

Can you X-RAY the BUTT?

Feel free to PM if you want to discuss, Adam

Hi Rik,

I'm not an expert on these cues by any means, but it looks like Balabushka parts were used on this cue and it looks like one to me from the few I've seen. However, Balabushka parts were available from spares after he passed, and more than one cue has been assembled from such and passed off as a genuine. Pete Tascarella has disassembled the joints on a few of these and can tell from the way the cue was built if it is one or not.

Chris

Ps. - those are the kind of pics I would like to see on every cue looking for an ID!

All the sizes look right to me. Bushka parts were up for grabs after his death. Cue looks good to me but pete task would be your best bet. A few hundred gets you a letter and you'll know for sure. 250$ might make you $20k

I am no expert.....

.......but the MOP dots that go into the natural veneer say this is not one.

I could be wrong, but doesn't this cue resemble the Paradise cue made for Balsis?

There Are Too Many Things Not Pictured To Be Abe To Answer The Question Accurately.

This Should Be An Interesting Thread Though.

The diamonds in the forearm where cut on a pantograph/or cnc and the butt diamonds where bandsawed. It looks like the forearm work was done at a later date. As for being a real cue I would pay for the LOA to be sure. I don't personally see them enough to venture a guess. Chris.

Adam,

The weight bolt does screw into a brass insert. I am working on getting the cue X-rayed. I will post pics of the x-rays as soon as I can.

What would you like pictures of? PM or post the list of required photo areas and I will get them done.

Thanks,
Rik

The red acrylic/resin rings look to be George's stock.

Please measure and advise the outside diameter (in thousands of an inch, i.e. 500 = 1/2 inch) of the brass pilot of an orginial shaft. And does the pilot fit snug in the joint?

Best Regards,
Hal

X-rays of the cue

If you missed them I am sorry. I felt the need to take them off the forum. For those who did see them I hope you enjoyed.

Dude thanks very much for sharing, these were the best group of photo's I have ever seen. I am certainly not an expert on Balabushka cues, however, the cue is either made of Balabushka parts or it is the real deal.

Thanks again for sharing!!!!!!

I love it

Time to put up or shut up!
Will anyone else that has X-Rays of another Bushka be kind enough to post them or PM them to Riki to prove or disprove what this cue's X-Rays show it's construction shows it to be.
Thanks Riki and good luck,
Nick :)

I thought all Balabushka cues had a steel lag bolt at the A joint coming from the forearm to the handle. Ernie showed me one disassembled at Ginacue a few years ago that he was repairing and the bolt looked different than the one in the xray. I must add that I know very little about Balabushka cues.

.530 is the measurement of the pilot on the shaft.
