Buyer beware of ob1-mackie

AZ Member ob1-mackie took my money for a cue on January 4th which was agreed to be shipped express mail and provide tracking information to me.

After that, he claims the cue was shipped to the wrong address by his brother. He never provided tracking information, so I asked him to get a receipt from his brother to prove that shipment occurred. He says his brother threw out the receipt.

After that, he claims it was shipped again by his wife, and that she accidentally shipped it via the slowest (rated at up to 6 weeks) surface mail. No tracking. I asked him for that receipt and he said that he threw it out, on purpose. Says he didn't think it would be needed. He sure threw that one out fast (I asked for it immediately).

On January 16th, he said he'd refund me "tomorrow" (the 17th). He didn't contact me until January 19th and told me to wait until after January 27th.

He often said things like "I'm a man of my word, I pride myself on that." But so far, I haven't seen actions to back that up.

I have no idea if I'm getting the runaround not. ob1-mackie might be basically a good guy, and this could be two absurd mis-shipments combined with throwing away receipts. Then, promising a refund and then not delivering on that promise.

By the way, I opened a dispute/claim with Paypal and they ruled in my favor, but there wasn't enough money to complete the refund. It's anybody's guess if he'll refund me in the future or not. If not, I'll pursue it further.

I wanted to keep this private, but I became concerned that he might be doing this to other members. He is selling other items on here. Hopefully my case is an isolated incident. Hopefully everyone else received their items without incident. If not..........

To those that find these threads annoying, I apologize for cluttering up the for sale section. Hopefully the warning is useful to some.

No Way That The Second Receipt Gets Thrown Away After The First Shipping Catastrophe Of "his Brother" Sending It To The Wrong Address.

And If In Some Alter Universe The Receipt Got Thrown Away, He Should Have Refunded You Immediately.

P.s. Where Is It Shipping From And Going To? Unless His Wife Is Walking It To You, It Shouldn't Tkae 6 Weeks.

Right. If he really wanted to prove any of this stuff happened, there's always a way. If receipts were thrown out, how about credit card statements? If cash was used, how about letting me talk to his brother or wife on the phone? Photos of packaging? Even flimsy proof is better than zero proof.

He showed me the web URL for the shipping method. Indeed it shows "up to 6 weeks". It is being shipped from the UK.

THAT MAKES A LITTLE MORE SENSE, BUT SOMETHING LIKE A POOLCUE SHOULD NEVER BE SHIPPED THAT SLOW.

AFTER THE FIRST "ERROR" IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN MAILED EXPRESS, WITH HIM PAYING THE ADDED SHIPPING FEES.

Sorry about your situation Shinobi. I hope it gets worked out, but what
Marcus wrote up top is some funny Crap!

I've been considering a few things lately with all the different threads like this that have come up.

First...any cue I spend upwards of a grand on...I want that mf'er shipped over night. I just don't like the idea of a cue, something that for all intents and purpose, is still an organic, living thing...taking days of braving the elements and the idiocy of the post office, to get to me. I want that things shipped overnight. Period, the end.

Second...if I spend $1800 on a cue...I want it insured for $1800.

And...I'm really wondering if sending something COD isn't the way to go. Does anyone know how that works? I've never sent or received anything that way...but seems a good way to facilitate a simultaneous exchange of funds and goods. I mean...if you don't have the means to pay...well then...no f'in cue for you. Right?

Yeah, it was supposed to be sent express the second time also (it was the original agreement and reiterated the second time). The surface mailing was claimed to be an accident (if it was indeed mailed in the first place).

Don't worry about me guys, this isn't causing me any stress whatsoever. Just wanted to give other members a heads up :) Gotta protect our own.

Well...we certainly appreciate it. The thing is...I haven't been involved in something like this before...but I find myself being irritated at the simple thought of it happening to my peers. I know I sure as hell wouldn't like it.

the cue got dispatched with 2 other sales all on the wrong type of mailing(surface instead of signed for priority)
you fail to mention i did offer you a refund after the first cock-up as same as i did the other sales.
the reason i delayed the second refund was so i could make sure enough cash was in the account for paypal to cover the refund....the 27th my payday
i'm sorry for the hassle it has caused.....as previously said....
i agree the receipt shouldn't have been thrown away.....it was done it a moment of frustration after i had found that the parcels had been dispatched incorrectly.
i've had a fair bit on my plate lately with work and personal matter(all of which are none of your business) and i may have let a few things slip.
as i said you'll get your refund on the 27th........and i'm sure your cue will arrive too.....and i as i said you can have both

Well, hopefully this will be resolved! Good luck to both of you in this matter!

if you offered a refund then you did the right thing in my book. that's a detail that shouldn't have been left out of the story.

you know that's probably my biggest fear. shipping cues i sell to the wrong guy. one time i had sold 2-3 cues 1 went to germany, 1 to singapore, and one to tennessee. i was so scared i was going to send at least 1 package to the wrong guy. i marked all the packages as i labeled them for shipping

THE OFFERING OF THE REFUND IS GREAT, THE WAITING FOR IT PART IS CRAPPY. YOU HAVE HIS MONEY, HE HAS NOTHING. HE SHOULD NEVER HAD BEEN TOLD HE HAD TO WAIT FOR TEH REFUND.

P.S. IT IS COMMENDABLE THAT YOU DID THE RIGHT THING, AND POSTED TO THIS THREAD.

You should open a business - Shinobi's Short Term Loans, Inc.
At least you'll get some vig in that venture.

This is a sorry excuse.

You couldn't believe them since they are related.
Photos of packaging?
This would be a good idea, but you are still in a bad situation.

This has to be the slowest shipping i've ever heard of.

I wish you good luck with this, but it doesn't sound too good.

About the only major problem I see with this would be that you have his money.....and probably spent it...and now he has to wait for a refund.....That is like throwing salt on the wound....but hopefully....NEXT WEEK, he will get his money back....

Bad way to do buisiness in my eyes
