Buying new set of balls

The only kind of Pool Balls that count.

There is no better look then Centennial Balls.
As for the Cue Ball. I play with the Centennial Blue Circle, but many friends like the Red Circle and I will switch it out. There both as good as each other.
As for the cue ball with all the red dots (Aramith Pro). I really think it looks bad and even looks stupid to me. I am too much "Old School" for that new stuff. There is no way that a cue ball like that should be allowed to stand next to Centennial Balls.

The New Aramith Tournament balls are the nutz ...

I've got a set of the new Aramith Tournament balls. Aramith manufactures the Centennials for Brunswick and the balls have been identical except for the aesthetics.

Now the Aramith T's look even better than the Centennials AND they are made out of a new even better resin. They are supposed to hold their polished surface better and wear out your Simonis cloth slower than either the Super Pro's or the Centennials.

I have two sets on back order and since I just carry 'em for hosting tournaments in back water rural bars, I would let a set go if somebody wants a set ...

PS I also have available an Aramith Aluminum BALL and CUE case (comes as a set with the new balls) that will hold two cues, your full set of Aramith T Balls, and a 2nd cue ball for your Aramith barbox magnetic ball ...

PPS I might put 'em in the AZ Billiards "for sale" section, but I'll probably wait until they are more readily available.

Please post what reference you're using for the above statement.

Super Aramith Pro from Meullers with 20% discount through July 7th:

$139.86 shipped...

Best price I have found so far. Dartman at poolfelt.com has the best regular prices I have found. $149 for the Pros with free shipping.

I think he's referring to the description of the Aramith Tournaments on the Saluc site.

I couldn't actually find it on the Aramith/Saluc site at all, although it is referenced on multiple other sites if you search under "Duramith"

This new "Tournament" set appears to be identical to the set specially developed for the IPT, even down to having a black logo on the cue ball. (Except they changed the IPT logo for the Aramith one of course.)

The IPT still list their sets at $89.95 on their website, so if you want more sets and are brave enough to give KT your credit card you can save a lot of money. (At least assuming they are made of the same "Duramith" and not just cosmetically similar.)

I'm glad mattiefingaz started this thread, because I had not previously heard of the new Aramith Tournament balls. It will be interesting to see what sort of reception they get over the next few years and how players feel about them versus the Super Pros and the Centennials.

On the question of whether Brunswick Centennials are the same as Super Aramith Pro except for the design, I pulled the following off the Saluc website:

.....blah blah blah.....

As the top of the line, the Super Aramith PRO set distinguishes itself by its beautiful design and numbers and the maximized in-depth vitrification of its More importantly, it is a fully matched professional set, where precise calibration of each ball guarantees maximum consistency within the set. The Super Aramith PRO also exists in the Centennial design produced for Brunswick.
(the mistake - some missing words - is in the original)

So it's saying that Centennials are the same except for the design.

Actually the page appears to be out of date, because Aramith Tournaments are now the top of the line. They are shown on the Saluc website but there is no verbiage describing them.

I must say that I'm pretty glad I started this thread as well. Not solely for the great information and insight, but for the kind words and warm welcome. I was taught old school from a student of Ray Martin's and the people around back then were always a fraternity, or a society of their own. The support here for, what could be construed, as a simple question just shows that even after all these years, that hasn't changed.

Thanks all and I hope to contribute as much as possible going forward.

Mattie

PS - Getting the centennials, they're what I've always wanted....final answer.

I saw the super aramith tournament balls at the super billiards expo. They did look bad ass.

OK....now for the twisteroo....
TIVO ended up recording the 1998 WPBA Classic tour semifinal for me when I was out of town. When watching it back I saw they were playing with Meucci balls...Yes, I said Meucci balls. Did a search on them since I'd never heard of Meucci making balls and found a brand new set on an "auction site" and bought them and they should be delivered by the end of the week. I'll post some pics when they get here.
Outside of that sales listing I haven't been able to find out anything about them.
Don't get me wrong, as I said earlier in this thread, I'm going with the Centennials and they are on the way too.
No matter what the "going value" of Meucci balls are I know that they've got to be pretty damn rare and I'm SUPER happy with the price I paid.
I'm not trying to throw them out for sale, I just thought it was kinda' wild that when I was looking for opinions on the best balls out there I came up on something so unique.
If anyone has any knowledge of these Meucci balls and their history I'd love to hear it. The Centennials are still gonna be my day to day balls but I dig a good story.

Thanks again everyone!

Mattie

I've seen some good deals on Centennials on ebay and I bought an extra set for $117 a while back. I know there are cheaper balls but I greatly prefer the look of Centennials.
