Hey

The figure of that Wood is just super hot.....Chris says it's Pompelle Bubinga

Chris is a great guy, and his work keeps getting stronger, and stronger...I need to get out to Denver, and take that boy out for some Pho...hahaha..Your son's are very fortunate to have such a generous Dad..
Congrats!!!

did your son in law already damage that cue or were the blemish in the ring in the 2nd picture and chips in the box verneers in the last picture already there when he purchased it ?

Steve, I'm glad you bought this cue. Chris is a friend of mine and I would have bought this cue if it had a different wrap. Elephant ear is beautiful but I prefer linen or wrapless. Your pictures are amazing as always, but this cue looks even better in person. Plays great too!

the pics I take, never do these cues justice. they always look so much better in person, as this one does.

Yep

Thanks for the thoughtful comment

It looks fantastic now that it's complete.

I'm hoping Chris will be there when I visit so I can try it out. :p

Thanks for sharing.

Chris, he will be here with the cue......and yes he did ding it up already. wait till you see Brians, he absolutely loves it

I will call you tomorrow to set up a date

Chris is a great guy! Jamie and I shared a room with him at the SBE . The execution on the cue is top notch. Looking forward to seeing more from Chris . I also have to say that
I think this is one of the nicest pieces of Bubinga I've come across

After seeing the pictures

I have to see about getting one of these for my own. Not even your pictures make this Cue look bad. Very nice Cue and work. Very nice.
The pictures do not do justice to the work in the Cue. Very pretty colors. Very nice veneer work too. Nasty job on the pictures though.
I like everything about this Cue alot.
Nick :)

for some reason i dont think you were pleased with my post.

let me clear the air here.

you have a highly deserved reputation on here for purchasing a lot of beautiful high end cues. the rubino elephant ivory cue is 1 of many amazing examples. a beautiful cue but albeit it looks a little too fragile to hit some balls with.

you also are known for the meticulous care you take with your cues and the great lengths you have taken to provide a secure environment for your collection.

with that being said i was supprised to see the flaws in the cue you displayed here. thus the reason for my line of questions about this cue.

i have heard of chris byrnes but am unfamiliar with his level of craftsmanship.
thus the question of did this cue leave his shop looking this way.

thanks for clarifying in post 12 why these flaws are in this cue. it is hard to fathom someone being this careless with such a beautiful gift.

it seems to me he needs to take a page out of your book on the proper care of cues.

Hey

lo, Thank you for all the nice compliments. I do hate to say this but my son in law Chris, just doesn't share my love for all things cues....lol. when everyone's over and you hear a loud crack on the floor.......we all know Cnris just knocked his cue on the floor.....or when your sitting while he is up at the table, we all keep our cues behind us so that Chris doesn't smack our cue with the butt of his.
In about a year, I will have to send it back to Chris Byrne for a refinish.

by the way.....I wouldn't even let him hold the Ivory palace cue.
Thanks

Steve,

That refinish job won't be no big thing. Just a small speed bump within the big picture.

BTW, great cue you have there. Very tasty in every way. CB hits home runs for sure and I am sure he will be very accommodating concerning this fix.

Chris makes great cues Steve, they play great also. I have a friend that comes over to play, and I keep my Showman out of swing range from him. He cruises around the table, holding the cue pointing straight out, so the butt is swinging, and the shaft is swinging. He can hit people in a busy room. I always tell him to hold the cue close to his chest, but he won't listen. He spends lot's of cash on refinishes, lol.
