A couple I know about and can comment on:

1) Kelly McCue's in Mission Viejo is gone (Burned down a few months ago, no joke.) No big loss as they never did any maintenance on the tables, which was a shame as otherwise it could have been a great room.

2) Danny K's is the best room in Orange County IMHO. However it has a very large sports bar section, so avoid it during major sporting events. Website with times, tournament dates etc. is here. The only real issue it has is the non-standard tables. They do good maintenance on them on a regular basis, but there is only so much you can do with tables that were never designed to the same standards as a Gold Crown. (Inconsistent pocket sizes and poor pocket mountings are the biggest issues.)

3) Hollywood Billiards - As discussed here in a recent thread on pocket sizes, the tables are being fitted out with 4" corner pockets. Very nice room otherwise, especially for tourists looking for their first LA experience.

4) Hardtimes - A classic action room. Pretty much the antithesis of Hollywood Billiards, in that it is all substance and no flash (Not that I'm saying Hollywood Billiards is ALL flash) Just because they banned smoking there 10 years ago does not mean you don't get the same ambience, as they never replaced the carpets so it still has that subtle low-level tobacco reek that lets you know this is a room to be reckoned with.

5) Bigshots Billard Bar & Grill, 23512 El Toro Rd, Lake Forest, CA
(949) 830-2255 - Missing off your list. Does have 9' tables, but not great quality units and no Simonis last time I was there. Very busy evenings with a crowd mostly teenages and weekend-wannabe bikers.
 
You might add Mr. Lucky's 21020 Hawthorne Blvd. Torrance.
I have also heard that the Breakzone in Torrance may be closing down.

I believe this room has been shut down. Its a shame as it was
a pretty good room. Good tables and more good looking women than
almost all other rooms.


Calling Rack'em Up Billiards in Rancho Cucamonga CA a pool
room is a stretch. It does have tables though.

In the Bay Area and SF

Chalker's in San Francisco is out of business. Hollywood in SF has changed a lot. They are trying to make it into some sort of nightclub with a few tables left over. (from what I hear) One very nice place I didn't see on your list is
The California Billiard Club in Mountain View...some say it's one of the best in the State. Must visit if you're in the area....
 
There is a new ph not on your list in Sacramento, Diamond Billiards. I don't know what the street address is but it is in Rancho Cordova on Folsom close to Maether Road. It has 5 fairly new tournament Diamond tables and an assortment of other 4 1/2 by 9's and a couple of bar boxes with the big ball.

Sorry, I should have also mentioned that Family Billiards in SF is the most active for tournaments. I believe they have USPPA tournaments on Mondays and Thursday nights, and NPL tournaments on Saturdays. During the last week of each month, Gene Miller (the tournament director) holds an "end of the month tournament" for each one of these days; where the winner gets half of the prize money, and there are only four places paid. The end of the month tournaments are very popular and usually draw some of the best players; especially the Monday and Thursday night USPPA tournaments. Delbert Wong, the room owner is a very good player and has Ernesto Dominguez recovering the tables periodically, some of which have pretty tight pockets. It's become the last decent room in the City, in my opinion.

Shooters in Riverside. On Indiana street, anyone got an address :confused: . An excellent room. Bent Cue in newberry park is closed, La habra hard times closed, Players in van nuys burnt down too, no really. Other places i'd recommend are House of Billiards in Santa monica, and in sherman oaks. Finally, best overall place to eat, play, have a drink, sports, etc., is hollywood billiards. Nice looking girls too :) BTW, the tables at all these locations are in great shape so if serious playing is your thing, these are the places to go, and of course hardtimes in Sac and LA...

Very clean, balls were shining, lots of room between the tables. Brian the owner is very personable, highly recommend thispoolhall if you are in that area!
one of the last clean decent rooms with great equipment. they have 13 nine foot tables 1 12 foot english snooker table and 10 seven foot bar tables, with 6 of the seven foot bar tables for rental, the other 4 are quarter tables.

lol, the owner is a complete POS and the tables are crappy old olhausens , that used to be where I played every night until the new owner took over and ran all his regulars away. the only reason he is still open is because there is nowhere else to go near by.
 
i know in the san diego area the stix billiards in poway, the family billiards in oceanside & the billiard gallery in escondido are all closed down

They are located in Mountain View. I believe they are moving late July to Fremont CA. They are having a one pocket and 10 ball tournament the beginning of July. It should be pretty good!

I believe Willow Glen Billiards and Brew is closed. It was more a social club.

Santa Rosa billiards is closed, so is Gold Rush.

Buffalo Billiards closed, then took over the Petaluma location (Bank Shot).

Classics in San Rafael is open, Bilco still open in Napa last time I checked.

Buffalo is a decent room, Billy Aguerro is the house pro there.
