Calling out APA players at Derby City

I would like some similar skill level competition while at the Derby. I realize I probably will not get nearly the weight I need to win from the champions, so I would like to play something to get in stroke.

I am an APA 5 and would like some similar competition. I am from Alabama, a pretty easy APA area, and feel like I am playing pretty solid. Are there any other APA 5s that would like to match up at Derby City for some cheap 8 or 9 ball?

I can provide proof of my skill level, and would expect the same in return.

PM if interested.

I might be game the first weekend

I don't know my corresponding skill level/APA but would be willing to match up and adjust as needed - before, during, or after (ha ha).
What do you consider cheap? How about a race or 10 ahead for $100? I would go lower but probably not higher out of the gate.

There might be a couple of folks on here that could comment on my appropriate APA skill level and I might take their estimate unless they share the same last name or address as you:)

Dont go broke playing apa 5's. You owe me a 50 bet on anything of my choice. I let you rob me last year and this year its my turn :)

Just curious....................I don't play APA. What is an APA 5 equivalent to in USPPA?? or A, B, C type rating??

Thanks,

Russ......

APA rating is contingent on the strength of the area that the rating is established.

On average I'd say an APA 5 would be equal to a USPPA (if it's what I think it is) 50 or a "C" level player.

I was in at MOTHERS in CHARLOTTE, NC in the early 90's and played RON PARK. At that time his alias was RON SPARKS and he was rated as a 57 (per the "chart") with the USPPA. The morale to the story is you never know....;)

That sound you hear is A players all over the world forging APA Skill Level 5 documentation.

not really

JCIN, i enjoy reading your posts, but i have to say you are wrong on this one, at least in my case. i might be a decent 5, but nonetheless... however, i know exactly the point you are trying to make. i played in a tourney as a 5, and i played a 3 who was shooting every bit as good as i was. i had to resort to some good safeties in order to pull it off. and to DEREKDISCO, no problem bud, we'll try and even the score on last years bet...

Not being a smart-a$$ here, but APA 5's can be a WIDE range in skill level. BE CAREFUL!!!! ;)

I know. If someone wants to rob me for cheap money, so be it. I just want a challenge and would like to play someone that feels the same. I don't care about winning or losing a little cash, but last year I only got in action one time... only a couple guys from AL who know me would give me the weight I need. I know those guys and can play them at home. My goal here is to hit a new gear by playing against someone I don't know.

I play for Dave's Goodtime Billiards in W.Peoria. Our 8 ball team went to Vegas this year. We heard so much whining about our handicaps that I couldn't believe it. I played a couple of 5's that truly played like 3's in Vegas, and they cried about my handicap being too low. They woulda been 3's maybe 4's here....I think that we have some REALLY tough 7s locally, and that keeps the rest of our handicaps from moving up (the tough 5's and 6's NEED that spot from the MONSTER 7s....). Who knows though, seems everyone from central IL has to worry about being DQed when in Veags (from what I've heard).

pic was taken after our regional win - went thru the winner's side unbeaten - semifinals ended around 6:30ish pm....finals started around 10:45 - ended around 1:30 am (needless to say, we were DEAD tired). from L to R - 5 bumped to a 6 (in Vegas), 4 bumped to a 5, 7, 6, 3, 4 bumped to a 5, 5, 3 bumped to a 4 before Vegas - then put on the WATCH list.....LOL.

I will say that the guy starting this thread is not trapping. I've seen him lose a pretty good amount playing with a crazy amount of weight. I'm actually surprised he's a 5.

I will try you some, dont play apa but everyone says I am a 5 and when I win, apparently, I always some how "luck out".

I'm a 7 but play like a weak 5 most of the time. I'll need weight of course and we'll adjust after 5 sets. Deal? :D
