Calling out Jay Halfert

Sorry my mind is too clouded by the great experience I had on the show. The guys all have this tough guy persona but underneath a real respect for the craftsman. They showed me a lot of love. Particularly Charlie and Paris Barclay (director/producer) I wish them all well and am sad that they killed me off last season. However I just received a notice (and check) in the mail saying they are using some of my film from previous episodes this season to recap.

To all you SOA haters. Its just a show. Something might not have reached your expectations for you to be happy for it to die. Im sure there are other shows that can satisfy your needs. But remember when a show dies about 500 people become unemployed.

I can imagine how cool being on that show must have been.

Seeing Charlie out of character is weird. Dude has some great acting skills to turn into Jax.

Back to the thread topic. I think in the past Promoters and ticket sellers forgave Earls transgressions and bad behavior because he sold tix. Now that he doesnt anymore those will turn their backs on him and pay attention to the new kid on the block. Now he has to rely on friends and the kindness of strangers.

I think Jay could of told him different. For Jay has been able to work with anyone and adapt to any situation. This is his skill. One Earl should have learned. Ive seen the man take the blows with dignity and kept his mouth shut and waited for a better time to express himself. Earl could have learned some of that. Now he is paying for it.

If there is anyone to blame look into yourself first. I dont think Im the first one to express that.

Sorry

I thought you would like the soa talk. It's better than the thread topic imo.

He does Satori. Maybe we can convince him to make a couple of posts in the NPR, SOA Thread.

Keone's In Box is pretty much always full. He told me once that if you want to talk TV, or ask him questions, just start a thread and that is easier for him to do. So, start an SOA question thread in NPR with Keone's name in the header. He might find it.

Keone, I don't think there are any SOA Haters. There are a couple of people that posted in the Face Book SOA site that are disappointed in the first 2 or 3 episodes of the Final Ride.

The plot has to be set first. Anyone that has been following SOA from the start just have to trust in the writing genius that is Kurt Sutter and the actors. With 10 Episodes left. It is going to be a Hell of a Final Ride.

The fuse has been lit and its getting close to the stick. I suspect that episode 4, which is tonight, will changing some of the doubters minds real quick.

Jam, its always disappointing when a great show takes its final Curtain Call.

Kurt never promised a Happy Ending on this one. Its better this way rather than dragging it out until there is nothing more to write about and it does die that way.

If things work out, I wouldn't be surprised that there isn't a Spin Off in the making.

As in, Sons, the Beginning Years.

One of my other wishes is for them to bring back Deadwood from where they left off. I know not much chance of that, but still.

OK, back to the other Writing Genius that is Toupee Jay.

I, for one, have had enough of your reading your bullshit on this forum.

You continue to bash Earl Strickland at every chance, it's actually comical.

Several weeks ago you wrote here that Shane and Earl would not win a single match in this current event .. what a joke you are.

I responded to you that I would gladly wager a dime against your big mouth , and as I expected you simply disappeared.

So what exactly is your problem, Jay?

If you want to run that big mouth of yours, than you need to man up and put some cash behind it.

Tired of your cheap and continuous attacks on Earl. what's the beef big shot?

I say it's time for you to shut up or put up .. how bout it Jay?

Agent 99,

I don't have a single problem with you having a problem with Jay Helfert (or anyone having a problem with anyone) BUT if you want any credibility at all you need to provide links to the posts you are referencing.

It's time for you to put up the posts you are talking about or just forget about it. I looked at Jay's posts in the open forum going back 3 months and I didn't see a mention of his opinion on Earl & Shane not winning a match, I could've missed it though or it may not have been in the open forum.

I think Jay is great in the booth , very well based , and if he says Earl sucks , Then I believe Earl sucks .

I do not like his childish behavior . Jim

Sorry

Its better for me to take every job I get like anyone job in life. Nothing special. The minute you do you lose grip of reality. Im like a plumber. I go to someones house and fix up their problem and get paid and go somewhere else. You get enamored about this show biz stuff and you start smelling like the plumbing you came to fix.

I just try to enjoy myself. I try to learn from lifes experience. That's what I was talking about Earl and Jay. The conflicts and contradictions we can learn from. That's more interesting to me than make up and costume.

Sorry Blue. I didn't mean to mislead you. I don't like personal messaging about my experiences cause it never ends. What with some of the stuff I been attached to. Have you ever been cornered by Trekkie fans???
I don't think it belongs on a pool forum anyway except for some light fare. But most of the stuff I try not to know of. In other words I go to work I come home I forget about it and think of how Efren would have done it..

This is a guy who has his head on straight! :thumbup2:

I fully understand Keone. I have been in quite a few movies as a stand in myself so know the long hours, the hurry up and wait thing.

Get make up, sit around in the extras tent, freeze you butt off, drinking coffee to keep warm until you come up.

After a few of those, the thrill wears off, you do your thing and go home.

But, for us to have someone like yourself on the Forums, someone that has a long distinguished career as yours, and not B Graders, but great stuff, of course we are gonna ask questions of you.

I know that you don't know how its going to end and even if you did, you couldn't break contract and say anything.

Satori, myself included were just hoping that you might add a little insight into a few things that you might think will happen.

I missed a casting call for a a movie about a true life Native Chief. Was called Big Bear. I usually received pay in the Stunt category. I was going to be in this one cause I can ride and handle a horse, motorcycles and anything else with a steering wheel. The others that they hired were rodeo cowboys and were trying to impress people on how they could handle the stock, show off, and were actually abusing them a bit. The people that supplied the horses weren't happy about it.

Still kicking myself in the butt for missing the call that day on that one.

I didn't mean to imply that you or your job is any better than a plumber, or the stuntman, or the stars of the show. I just feel that working on that show would be fun. I dont understand why someone wouldnt be enamored with their job... in fact I think everyone should do a job that they are enamored with.

What Jay really says about Earl Strickland - video clips / links included

Jay has usually been complimentary about Earl's pool playing. We all know Earl has his "moments" of mental unbalance, however, this is true with many top sports figures.

Here's some links of Jay talking candidly about Earl Strickland that may shed some light on his opinion of Earl.....the good, bad, AND the ugly. ;)

Earl Strickland - a Pool Genius?

I was nervous racking for Earl Strickland that day

No one (but Earl Strickland) could have run those racks

I don't think he took it that way Sat.

Just for him, being in the business for so long, to him, it isn't any different than being a plumber.

He knows his job, he does it and comes home and doesn't think about it till the next day.

So, to him, guys like Jay are the Movie Stars of this site, and rightly so. We're lucky that Jay has weathered it out among a few others.

Still, I would really get a big wood if Mr. Wu would come over to the SOA Thread and chat a bit.

I downloaded the pic of him with bullet holes after that scene was over. I would seriously love an autographed pic of that one.

It would get framed and hung among the other pool greats and autographed balls in the Cue Shop. So, people would ask, "who is that guy with the bullet holes", to which I could answer, "just a pool player with bullet holes in him.

Anyway, Jay will always remain our Shining Star of AZB. He even lives in LA.

It would be cool to hear some behind the scenes stories too.

Who's gonna die tonight Blue? :-)

Do tell. I can only think of John McEnroe as a person at the top level of their sport who constantly acted like an idiot. Let us know who these "many top sports figures" are.

John McEnroe didn't "constantly act like an idiot"

John McEnroe didn't "constantly act like an idiot".....he just had a bad temper for the most part......I don't think there's any consistent connection, and besides, it's considered offensive to use this term (idiot) and no longer in use.

idiot

n.noun

A person who is considered foolish or stupid.
A person of profound mental retardation having a mental age below three years and generally unable to learn connected speech or guard against common dangers. The term belongs to a classification system no longer in use and is now considered offensive.
