Cameos in Color of Money

Louie (Saint Louie Louie) Roberts was the next player in line after Paul Newman was paying his entry fees for the Atlantic City pool tournament.

also:
Howard Vickory, Grady Mathews, Mike Sigel, Steve Mizerek, Jimmy Mataya and Keith McCready.

In one of the scenes, maybe in "the green room", you saw Mike Sigel playing in the background. He didn't have a speaking part.

Thanks Jimmy. I'll keep an eye out next time I watch. Sorry to hear about the Open but I'm sure the good folks here on the board will do it again.

Regards,
Dave

What about the most colorful of them all. Mr Keith McCready. He was awesome.

You are right, Kevin. Grady "Earthquake" Seasons actually acted in the COM.

A little more than that

I believe Mike Massey appeared briefly in Poolhall Junkies.

He made more than a brief appearnce. He had a whole scene speaking and everything. I hope he keeps his day job. lol

Are you sure Mike Sigel was in it? I know he performed some of the shots for the actors but I don't remember seeing him in the movie. I know he wasn't in the movie but they did use Tommy Kennedy's name as the player Paul Newman forfeited to in the tournament.

Dave

I would say that was a coincidence. When that movie was being made Tommy was totally unknown other then winning a few small tournaments in Florida. And quite honestly, not all that good a player yet.

keith can still be heard saying " it's like a nightmare, isn't it?" when he's collecting the cash. LMAO!!

Not to mention that the guy who played "Kennedy" in the COM was, more than likely, the last place finisher in the Tommy Kennedy look alike contest. The guy would have had a far better shot in a Hulk Hogan look alike contest.

That wasn't a cameo, Keith was a co-star!! ;)

I agree! The scene between Grady and Vincent in Atlantic City was the most memorable in the entire movie! :D

Haha! I'll have to see this one again. Which scene was this?

Mark Jarvis, a good player from Indy has a very small part. Vincent shows the Balabushka to him in the poolhall right before they hit the road.

Who was the guy when after Paul Newman beat him in the tournament he said "I didn't deserve that" and Paul Newman said, "Yes, you did!"

Was that guy a famous pool player? He looks kind of familiar.

Just Wondering

When it first shows the green room you see a group of guys standing around a table talking, i could swear one of the guys looks like Allen Hopkins, may ju be me. does anyone know where exactly they filmed the tournament at? My wife is from NJ and her mom and dad have gone to Resorts for many years and they dont recall Resorts having a hall that big right off the boardwalk.

I think it probable that some of the tournament in COM was shot at the Atlantic City Convention Center, a few hundred yards down the boardwalk from Resorts. There were a few pool tournaments held there in the eighties, and it's plenty big enough to hold a few dozen tables.

The tournament scene at the end of COM was shot at Navy Pier in Chicago as were most of the scenes. There are alot of Chicago players that get a cameo. Mark Jarvis, Piggy Banks, I believe Larry Schwartz and others that I can't think of right now.

I remember seeing Howard Vickery.
Instructor Don Feeney announced it when when Eddie forfeited his match.

In the credits ZigZag Master sent, it lists Harold Simonsen as "Chief Justice tournament" (whatever that is)...anyway, that's the publisher of Pool and Billiard Magazine and the father of WPBA player (and P&B editor) Shari Stauch. And Christina Sigel (Mike's former wife!) is listed as a waitress!! Now THAT I didn't know.

It was the scene he was in of course. He and I think it was Jersey Red but could be wrong are at the rich man gamblers house and they bring the kid along and they try to set up a hustle to get the guys money. It was not very realistic.
