Can we get the Forsale section separated?

I agree on the seperate sections within the for sale section.

Additionally I think there should be a way to remove a thread once the item is sold and no longer for sale. This would help remove some of the clutter within the sections.

Kevin

I understand what you're saying Kevin, but does this old information really impede your ability to find something you're interested in?

Also, don't you find any value in historical information, i.e. what cues have been on the market, what happening with pricing (value), who's buying and who's selling.

I do like referencing the information from the past as for pricing or seeing pictures.

Most people usually replace the cost with the word SOLD once the item sells, so you really are losing some of the most valuable information anyhow. Most people don't want others to know what they paid for an item so that they hopefully can make a buck when they decide to resell.

I dont agree, if you have same thread displayed whole day on first page would remove all excitment of the forum. it will become too boring and If someone wants their ad to be displayed whole day on first page than they should make their own website. I love the this section as it is and dont mind to bump my thread a couple of times a day,may be 3 times. There are hundreds of members want to sell all of them cannot stay on first page forever.

It is fine as it is. Just my thoughts

So then out of your 2800 posts then what 2700 are bumps? I bump once a week, if I am lucky. Because I don't want to be a mother bumper. :p It's annoying as hell.

I agree that the Wanted/For Sale section should be broken down (somewaht, but not too much), BUT the big problem, (IMHO) is having someone put a thread in the wrong section, ie., something for sale in the Main category. I know some threads border more than one section, ie., ID of a cue, but any improvement to this section would be helpful.

Cue Identification should have been a sub forum under cues long ago.

I have mentioned my views just as you did, i think you only want to listen yes to your suggestion.

Good luck my friend.

And by the way do you know how much time people are spending on this thread instead of seeing some nice cues.I dont sell a cue everyday, so whenever i have something for sale i bump it a couple of times a day, which is an accepted standard on this forum.

I have no problems with the forum as it is would like it to stay this way.

Also, most experienced sellers remove the pictures as well.

I often keep the price there, so people will have a reference in the future. It does kind of suck to search and finally find an item you do not know the value of, and the seller took down the price. God forbid you do not know the value, and ask for offers on here. The AZ forum police will be on your ass so fast. I can understand taking down the price for certain items, but it is often helpful to others to keep the price up.

By the way, I don't think seperate sections would be a bad idea. Maybe just a few different ones-cues, case, misc.

Noted, however I think there has been discussion on the number of bumps and I don't ever recall anyone agreeing that a couple of times a day was normal or accepted.

Now think of it this way, we have been collecting/selling pool and billiard stuff for over 30 years, how quickly I could take over one section of the forum would be really just a factor of how quickly I could type. (no one would appreciate it, I assure you)

From table spots to score beads to cues and magazines, books, pill pool bottles, keno boards, matchboxes, tables, and shot glasses, toys to gags, you can't phathom what I could list in a day.

However out of respect to everyone else I wouldn't do that, just like I try to keep my bumping weekly.

Exactly right and another thing about cues, cases, or whatever is the fact that sellers will post in the thread that the item is Sold and that pushes that thread back to page 1 and it gets in front of the items that are still trying to find a buyer. I think a thread should just fade away after the item sells to give other sellers a better chance at being seen in the front as long as possible.

Cues/Cases/Accessories?

You put up a cue and in three hours its on page 5...

Just a suggestion....

JV

i have questioned this in a past thread and just about everyone shot me down. hopefully people now realize once they try and sell something they have to bump it 3 times a day to keep it on the front 3!

I messaged this to the mods a while back. They're too busy I guess. I doubt it will change if they haven't done it yet. Maybe if we complain loud enough :P

Sub-forums will definitely help, if arranged properly. As will harsher policing of 'non-pool related items' and 'threads without anything for sale' within this section. :)

SUB SECTIONS ARE NEEDED BADLY. A GREAT CUE GETS LISTED, AND WITHIN 10 MINUTES IT'S ON PAGE 3 BECAUSE THERE ARE 20 GUYS TRYING TO SELL THE SAME PRODUCTION CASE, OR TIP TAPPER, OR QUARTER HOLDER.

IT'S GETTING WORSE BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO SELL WHATEVER THEY CAN TO GET SOME SPARE CASH, AND ARE LISTING SOME REALLY LOW END STUFF.

FOR SECTIONS:

CUSTOM CUES AND CASES
PRODUCTION CUES AND CASES
ACCESSORIES (WOULD INCLUDE INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIAL)
TABLES AND TABLE PARTS

Marcus

There should be a stickey at the top of each section somewhat like this...

Production cues are Viking, Post 76 Joss, Pechauer, Schon, Meucci, Mezz, etc.. etc.. no matter how limited you THINK they are, they are still production cues...

exposure vs pricing vs bumping.....

Seems to me the rub here is the time of exposure for an add vs the price vs the numer of times an item gets bumped. Why not set the sub forums up based on a price basis or ranges, expand the # of items viewed per page and eliminate bumping. This could be done when listing an item in the For Sale/Wanted forum. Have a form you fill out when listing an item with specific information given..ie..pics, price, shaft #/diameter. weights, age, condition, maker and contact info, this is just an example of selling a cue, but, would also work for tables or whatever you wanted to list. The buyer could then search by catagory, price, and maker. This would make finding and comparing like items much easier and create compition. This is my view on how to make it better for all.

You mean like THIS thread, which seems to appear every couple of month and is posted by the same cue dealers who dislike ordinary people selling ordinary cues? God forbid you post a production cue on page one when one of these dealers is trying to unload his inventory!

I got an idea...why not have a separate category for dealers that include a fee for posting! Then THEY can have all the sub-cats they want!
