Can we get the Forsale section separated?

You mean like THIS thread, which seems to appear every couple of month and is posted by the same cue dealers who dislike ordinary people selling ordinary cues? God forbid you post a production cue on page one when one of these dealers is trying to unload his inventory!

I got an idea...why not have a separate category for dealers that include a fee for posting! Then THEY can have all the sub-cats they want!

I can somewhat agree on this one. I am not a dealer but do sell and trade some cues once in a while.
What upsets me the most is there are quite a few big, names selling cues for thousands of dollars and do not even contribute to AZ with a single penny, they are so cheap that they can not even afford to become club members, but they do sell Szambottis, Tascarellas, Southwest, etc, etc...
By the way, I agree with the categories that Marcus (Fast_n_loose) suggested.

When you go to a library are all the books thrown in the middle of the floor?

It would be a lot more exciting that way:). I think some organization would be a good thing, but it seems like some people want to break everything up into so many sections that it kind of takes the thrill of the search out of it. It would become more like a store. I search this section a lot, and most times I am not looking for a particular item. I think if there were too many sub-sections, it could actually hurt sales in some circumstances.

sub sections

This is the key here. The whole idea here is to NOT divide into so many subsections it gets combersome, yet, maintain maxium exposure. There would not be a need for sub-sections of production or custom cues. This type of case or that type of case. Like items would be lumped into like catagorys based on price or a price range. You could still search in areas or price ranges for items and scan through what is listed there faster than flipping pages and trying to remember who wanted what for same items found pages apart. There has to be a good ballance between clutter and orgianization, too much of one is just as bad as the other. IF you thought it out long enough, you could have a for sale section that is a level playing field for all and without all the needless clutter. It can also be set up to police itself. A good way to do this would be to set a time limit an add is active. After that time has ran out and have not sold your item, you would have to choose from an option menue to relist/cancel. Of course you would be able to edit your add in any given point during the listing time.

Most cues/cases on here are custom so I dont think we need production or custom listings. The sections needed are cues, cases, cue care, instructional and tables. But to be honst, I dont think the biggest problem is getting lost in the river of sh*t that is always getting bumped up or down. It is the thread that stays here even after it is sold and traded. Bet there are over 10,000 threads still alive that need to be put down. There should be an icon to allow the seller to CLOSE THREAD or END THREAD. I find it funny when someone bumps a thread from '08 and wants to buy the cue from the seller. I know we have all seen this a bunch of times. So the solution is simple. Subcategories and being able to close a thread. Just my .02.

For Sale Section

I've always paid my dues, paying for booth's at tournaments & such. it took me a long time to figure out how to become a AZ member, but i paid. don't think dealer's are making all the money on AZ & seperate them. what about all the flippers, they sell many more than any one. i think a section for trades, for sale, could seperate, plus pricing rates 1-1000, 1,001-2,00, 2001-4,000, 4 to 6, 6 to 8, 8- 10, 10,000 + cases w/ a similar format, might make it simpler to search & find what your looking for

Everybody wants something for nothing! Creating new categories and policing them is labor intensive. "Labor" should NOT be free! The only solution here is to start charging a fee! There should be a limit to the number of adds AND bumps (from the OP) of say 1 per week on a non-fee basis. This would allow the occassional seller to sell an occassional cue at no cost. After that, a fee would be charged for additional ads AND bumps by the OP! The money collected from the fees would allow one of the mods to be PAID for his services.

I agree with what BENFICA said, you have people selling 5-figure cues here that cannot see the benefit of becoming a member! Ridiculous!

memberships

I was selling the old yellow micarta ferrules for awhile. After I sold some I decided to become a member of AZ since it was their venue that I sold thru. I really feel that if you are making a few sales, say over 5 then it would not be a negative to join and be a member. Some people don't ever want to give back, but it is a must to keep everything going good.
You make money give a little to join.
Some of the knifemaker sites you have to join to sell on, no one seems to have a problem with it.
No one needs to tell me this is not a knife site I know that, it is just a comparison. Don't try and be a smart a--

I'm on board with all the dealers....This place is in dire need of subsections. Way too much clutter going on...just MHO...

Marcus and I would do this for nothing. Right Marcus? :p

I agree with your last statement 1000000000000%, probably some of the same people that sell out of their trunks at the shows.

Joe,
The hat does not fit you because you are a Club Member. You are golden as far as I am concerned. I am also a club member and not a dealer for custom cues, only for certain production cues and some other billiard accessories. I do sell and trade custom cues from time to time and even that will slow down dramatically since I am starting to do my own cues.
All I meant to say was Joe, some big names (and you know who they are), are so cheap that they squeek when they walk... And they do not even argue the price if they are interested on a big cue... I guess they do when they have to pay $35.00 a year to become a club member...

Sub sections are a must.
Pricing is not a good idea, because if your looking at a cue for under 1k and you come across 1 for 1.7 you might go for that.

The sections should be
cue & case
Trades

Cues & trades
cues cases & trades
individuals Sales
Dealers Sales
other merchandise.
Allow only 12 bump a day .
delete the thread after its sold
Not that hard to moderate and most people would go along because its the rules. 2nd failure to go with the rules means banning. moderators decide the time.

Lets see if I can sum this up...

CHRIST, it would take a QUALITY individual, to pony up the 35.00 bucks to reap the benefits of the new W/FS section. Like DEAN Martin and J.LEE Lewis a partnership for the ages...

JV (---am I close... can I get an AMEN... :)

I don't know Joe...if you spend $20,000 for a Balabushka, who has money left for membership on AZ?

That's why they can afford a 20k Bushka.. lol

If you buy and sell here you should at a minimum get a club membership. It's just the right way to go about it.
