I agree, there are some very good female players out there. I think the difference between the top female player and the top male player is several balls, atleast the 7 out playing 9 ball, maybe the 6 out. My reason is the break although the Magic Rack helps everyone to make balls now, the break is a big difference. Also packages, never have I heard of a female running 9 racks or anything like that, they might run a rack or 2 here and there but the men on those 4.5 or bigger pockets are running several quite often. Anyone know what is the most racks ran by a lady in 9 ball?
To be fair, whenever I've seen any of the ladies tournaments they've always alternated the break so there really isn't the opportunity for packages. That said, I'm sure they've had the opportunity in some of the mens 10 ball events.
There is no physical reason why Yu Ram Cha is a weaker player than any man. It's simply an experience and numbers equation.

Seems that almost everyone agrees "experience and numbers" are big factors....
But I'm not ready to say that physical difference is not a factor. It surely helps to be taller. My daughter can shoot free throws, just like me, but she is using (say) 50% of her strength to do it, vs my 10%. Doesnt that benefit me? There is also this eye/hand coordination issue that was mentioned.
Lets also consider possible mental differences. Are men naturally more competitive? At least on average? Do we benefit from more testosterone? Are we better able to focus on singular tasks? Do we have a stronger killer instinct (aka "hunter gatherer" instinct?) Are men generally more confident in themselves? Are we greater risk takers? Are men more creative?
edit, I will suggest its the mental differences, that CREATE the numbers difference.
Regarding the task of playing pool though there is nothing about the task that should favor men over women.
I'm wondering how many of you folks figure you play better than Yu Ram Cha (or Jasmine Ouscan for that matter)? I don't mean beat her once in a short race, I mean consistently beat her because you play better?
A year ago I was watching a stream from the Derby where Jeanette Lee was playing (and beating) a male player that I judged to play better than me. I was on the phone with a guy (that was also on the stream) who plays about even with me and he was commenting on the fact that he would destroy her. I was wondering if we were both watching the same thing.
So I realize that that answers to this question might be a bit skewed by ego, or male ego, or whatever, and I'm not sure there's an accurate way (is there?) of judging speed with actually matching up for a few days, but:
Who here feels that play stronger than a top tier women's 9 ball pro?
Thanks
