Can You Beat Yu Ram Cha???????????

Considering you're talking about my future ex-wife, I would be mesmerized by her beauty and intimidated by her game; the combination of both of those things would mean that I wouldn't make a single ball!

On a serious note, I wouldn't even come close to beating SVB in a race to anything in 10-ball, and she was talented enough to do so.

Not just that, in 2604 looks so far, one AZ member (Chris Bartram) has stepped up and said he thought he'd be the favorite against these Yu Ram Cha. Everybody else, knows some guys that could beat her or figures if they trained like her, ate like her, were as dedicated as her, got coached like her, didn't have to work, etc, they could compete, but as it stands, so far, one member at AZ thinks he's the favorite against Yu Ram Cha. Sorry but as much as maybe very few people want to say they respect her game (for some reason), clearly many do.

Thanks

Kevin

I'll go on record as saying I have no shot on a 9 footer but on a bar table playing 8 ball I would at least give it a try.

that is why you include loser buys supper!

Hell no, she would destroy me. I would then ask her on a date, and feel even more beaten when she turns me down.

That is why you include loser buys supper in the bet. That way you can't totally lose!

I think my 'in stroke' me could win. Or if she wants to play 2 hr a week for 5yr, that would even it up.;)

Ga Young Kim came and did a tourney in DC once and while she didn't get the best draw, she went 2/ out, without winning a game...and weez just tryin to be good players here. I have often said that you can't judge by one tourney, but it does factor in.

Sure... and I have gambled with her many times.. never lost.

I think she plays incredible, but there are so many good male players that Yu Ram could really only win against them in a shorter race.

I believe there are maybe 50 guys in FL who could beat Yu Ram in any length race.

In the very recent past Kelly Fisher received a spot from a not so strong shortstop - I do believe she got the 8 or the last 2 - and got trounced pretty good.

I wouldn't be surprised if the top level pros could give up a very significant spot and still win.

I'm not saying she doesn't have great skills, great determination and a will to win - it's just not enough against the top men.

I hadn't heard about that - pm the name of the not-so-strong shortstop and I will ask her about the game. "trounced" is often in the eye of the storyteller and not necessarily how the other side side sees it.

I am saying she has the skills and the game to beat any of the top men gambling or otherwise. But what she doesn't have is the seasoning that comes with competing with them day in and day out.

The top men and good shortstops and even not-so-good shortstops can put constant heat on where 90% of the women she competes with can't.

And just like with steel it takes heat to forge strong champions. If I had the time and money I'd bet I could make Kelly into a player no one wants to bet against.

Of course that's a lot to put on one person. When you get to a certain level it's a mind game. There isn't really a shot that Kelly or any of the top women can't make. They run out plenty. So it comes down to a mindset and whether they can keep it together to bring it when they should.

Plus there are a lot of good players out there who are relatively unknown but who play real strong. My friend in Colorado would rather play softball than pool put a 9 pack on Luat one year in a tournament.

Not too many folks like to pass along stories of when they get beat.
It's been discussed around here before who it was who beat Ms. Fisher.

How do you think Kelly Fisher would have matched up with Jean Balukas?

Steve H.

I'm wondering how many of you folks figure you play better than Yu Ram Cha (or Jasmine Ouscan for that matter)? I don't mean beat her once in a short race, I mean consistently beat her because you play better?

A year ago I was watching a stream from the Derby where Jeanette Lee was playing (and beating) a male player that I judged to play better than me. I was on the phone with a guy (that was also on the stream) who plays about even with me and he was commenting on the fact that he would destroy her. I was wondering if we were both watching the same thing.

So I realize that that answers to this question might be a bit skewed by ego, or male ego, or whatever, and I'm not sure there's an accurate way (is there?) of judging speed with actually matching up for a few days, but:

Who here feels that play stronger than a top tier women's 9 ball pro?

Thanks

Kevin

I don't, but I would like to try it some time.

How could I possibly know how Jean and Kelly would have matched up? Knowing how many racks Kelly has run I will say that I am confident that Kelly would have matched up just fine.

Kelly doesn't mind telling me if she loses. You obviously don't know her. We don't get together and talk about who she has played and for how much unless the conversation goes that way for some reason.

Apparently for some reason you want to be all cryptic and that's fine. But like I said Kelly has a backer who is known to the people who gamble. So IF your "not-so-good" shortstop wants to match up some more after he already "trounced" her then I guess he knows where to find her and what to offer. My guess is that IF he really beat her badly which is what trounced means to me then he or his backer probably nitted up and wouldn't adjust to a fair game where they were gambling. Then again I don't know the story and only know your vague version.

So let me restate my position to be totally clear.

IF Kelly is going to get into a game where she is being staked by Jeff then I will bet on her. I trust their judgement and will bet on Kelly. If she gets beat then she gets beat, that's why it's gambling and not stealing.

So you have my information and whenever you want to bet against Kelly then feel free to let me know and after I confirm the game with her you and I can bet.

That should give people an idea of the gap between top women players and top men players FreeWheeler is not really a big name player outside of FLA (best believe he can dab em though) and he has an undefeated record gambling against Yu Ram

Yu Ram beat me in a couple race to 7 tournaments, she definitely plays well, but for some reason I made an offer to play some 2k sets and that never happened. I would play any of these girls mentioned some 10 ball.

I saw Jean play 9 ball against Jimmy Fusco in the late '80s and she stunk the place up. Maybe just a bad night for her,but she was playing against a top male player of the day.

Yeah but Adam COULD play pro if he wanted to.

Personally I think a lot of the women are flat scared to step up and test themselves. I guarantee you that if I beat someone multiple times in tournaments then I damn sure am going to try them some in personal contest to see where I really stand.

In my opinion this is the REAL gap between women and men in pool beside the fact that there are simply way less women playing. In my mind it's that too few women have the gumption to get in the box and get the type of seasoning that they need to stand up to all comers.

Everyone has bad days. Jean also beat many top players and no one wanted to play her because they all knew she wasn't an easy draw and the stigma of losing to a woman was strong back then. Lot more sexism in the 70s and still a lot today.

As a matter of fact, I do know Ms. Fisher. She'a a helluva player and a great person. A great ambassador for pool. Doesn't mean she can't get trounced though.

Apparently hearing Ms. Fisher got "trounced" struck a nerve. I'm sure it's not the first, nor it will be the last time she got trounced.

Not being cryptic, just not wanting to out the guy on the internet. He's just a guy, not "my" guy, just a gambling redneck from NC. You can call it whatever you want; trounced, whupped, lost, it happened, right here in Charlotte, NC. A not so good shortstop beat the snot out of Kelly Fisher, giving her a spot. To call the guy nitty without even knowing who he is seems a bit nitty to me.

I'll restate my position to be perfectly clear.

The top pro men can give huge spots to to the top pro women and still win.
If a match like that happens involving Kelly, I will be inclined to bet against her.

Steve H.

and John Schmidt (who is very close to that tier himself)

he isnt "close" to that tier... he is a top tier player...

and to answer the origional question... 99% of the people posting on the forums, could get weight and would not like it...

even this ole bird, in my prime, i probably wouldnt have liked the action...

It didn't strike a nerve. Kelly has beaten other people dead even and you don't report on that. Also people who are good shortstops. Didn't report on that did you?

How about you and me make a game for Kelly to play.

Since you think she could get a "huge" spot and lose I will take the five out and the breaks and let her play any professional player on Earth a ten ahead set of 10 ball for any amount you want.

Efren, Orcullo, Bustamante, no one is barred. We have all read about top players giving up this weight and winning so since Kelly is not even as good as a "not good shortstop" then she ought to have no chance.

You set up the game and lets bet it. You have everyone clocked so you should rob me. I will go on your word as to the speeds of the players.

Now, I will be in North Carolina in a few weeks.

How can you and I play?
