Can't decide which cue to keep...

I am in a struggle with my self....

I have two cues, and I think they both look amazing, but I probably should get rid of one of them. When I open my case, I feel like playing with both, but that will not help me be consistent.

I have a McDermott m29c Sexton, it has been my dream cue for a long time. Wonderful inlay, but the i2 shaft deflects quite a lot. Look at these beautiful diamonds surrounded by thin metal lines

My other cue is a Bryan Mordt, build to my likings, long points, simply stunning looking woods. The one piece maple shaft even deflects less that my McDermott high-tech i2 shaft. I have no idea how, but nice work.

The Questions:

1. The big lump of steel joint on the Mcdermott, could it be the cause of deflection, would it maybe be better with a 314-2 shaft? (I'm not a fan of z2-shafts)

2. Which cue should I keep? and why?

Wow you designed a nice cue there. I don't think I could part with it. If you sell it I will be one of the interested parties.

Listen keep both better to have it and not need it then need it and it have it.

Whaddayamean ya can't keep two. I have 20 and thats peanuts compared to what others have.

I can play with any and all of mine, thats why I thinned the herd to keep only the ones that I can play with consistently. I can pick one out and after a few games, adjust pretty fair.

Just saying Bud. Don't feel guilty about having two and feeling like you have to choose. Life is too short to only have one pool cue.
If you are going to indulge yourself with one hobby, do it up good.

That Mick D is a pretty cue and if you sell that one or the Mordt, you will eventually come to regret it.

I have a Deacon that deflects kind of badly with the stock shaft. It does disappoint me on occasion but it is such a pretty cue that it is the only thing that is saving its life so to speak.

Keep them or someday you will be posting on the "Sorry I Sold My Cue" thread.
I'm sorry I did not keep my first 2. My first was a Rich Cue. The second was a Doc Fry cue.

Your sig notes that you're looking for a break cue. Pick up a Big Boy shaft for the McD and turn it into a breaker. Boom. Done.

If you can't decide which cue you want, you'd be better off holding on to both of them. You won't be disappointed... Wait and see.

I was in the same boat your in right now so I know what your going through. After many weeks of agonizing over what cue to keep I decided to

buy more....many more.:embarrassed2:

Keep em both

I have seven cues, but I tend to gravitate towards a certain one. But just like the buffet, it's fun to sprinkle a little more in there once in a while.

When I play terrible, which doesn't happen often...I'll switch cues, ...and it helps. Tricks the mind...that its a start over, etc, lol

Keep em-

I tried and that found that I2 shaft really hard to play with. BCM plays very nicely.

I think you should lend out one cue and play with just one, or leave one at home. selling one of the two may not help, because you with cash in hand, you may want a new cue in no time lol.

I prefer the Mordt...it's gorgeous. That said, you could get a LD shaft for your McDermott before you decide to get rid of it...you're clearly attached to it, so why not make it work for you? IMHO, the joint has zero to do with deflection...that's all in the last 6-10 inches of the shaft. Cues are like women...you tend to rely on one more than the others, but it can be fun to step out every once in a while!

I would recommend that you keep them both and start looking for a third cue to buy!

Keep them both, but don't carry them both, put the one you don't play with in another case and keep it in the closet. That way you won't think about selling the other one every time you open your case. That has helped me keep my cues in the past. If I leave them out and see them every day, I always think I don't need them and should get rid of them. Tom
