A Friend of mine has a schon, and we cant get the weight bolt out to add some more weight, so he is considering adding a leather Wrap to add some more weight.

My Question is how much weight do you think will be gained by adding the leather?

Thanks
Steve

Heat up the bolt as mentioned. The leather wrap will not add weight, most likely it will be lighter.

I put a chisel in a vice, put the schon screw up to the chisel and rotate the butt and that got my screw loose, learned that from Guido at DCC.

here is my experiance with messing with a weight bold on a meucci. i know its not schon but very similar and might be of help.

i also remeber reading somewhere, i forget where about someone else that replaced linen with leather and ended up loosing weight. i could be wrong though. i'll see if i cann't ind that post.

The bolt is epoxied. Take it to a cue maker or send it to Schon and have them add weight. I've seen several Schons with busted butts from trying to force the bolt. It has to be heated and removed. I doubt if a leather wrap is going to add much weight. The leather blanks being used are very thin.

here's anouther thread dealing specifically with a schon, and post #7 is where the guy said he lost weight by changing to leather.

Yes....True Story... The weight will likely go down if you change from linen to a leather wrap.

Of course that is a standard leather wrap.... I am not sure if a "stacked" leather wrap would add wieght...(I would ask before having it done though)
