Carolina Customs/Kwik Fire stolen from Kelly Fisher's booth at Valley Forge

I'm one of the builders at Carolina Customs. I'd like to get the word out that one of our prototype cues for Kwik Fire was stolen this afternoon.

It was removed from the rack at Kelly Fisher's booth while a big demonstration was going on at the next booth. Tons of people around. No one saw it.

Description:
ebony forearm
3 veneers (red, white, and blue)
cocobola pen blanks (point centers)
cocobola butt sleeve
outline diamonds in the points and in the sleeve for inlays
5 veneer checked rings (including the shaft). The veneers for the rings were red, white and blue with a white veneer above and below each ring.

Honestly, my main concern is that this was a prototype. We built three cues for them right before the show. There wasn't enough time to get the right material for the buttcap. The cue looks great, but we fear that the buttcap might fall off if someone chooses to play with this for any length of time.

I would just hate for this cue to be passed around as a sample of our work. It isn't 100% and was never meant to be sold or used. It was just a demo for getting orders.

Thank you guys for any help in finding this cue.

is it me or is there really an increase in this type of situation? it's sad to think that we have to really be careful and make sure that there is adequate security for shows and tournaments to prevent thefts.

I don't believe you said that. After all, we are dealing with pool players, most of whom believe they are hustlers or sharks and are often broke. I personally know of two people who go to tournaments and expo's just for the chance to pilfer what ever they can. I used to think how lucky the one guy was since almost every time he went to a tournament he would come back with a Schon or such that he claimed that he won at the tournament. It finally dawned on me just why he was so lucky.

And I imagine you've never mentioned it to the authorities, because pool players don't do that either. I doubt I would for that matter, probably would just let people I know know he is a thief. Just find it funny that people wonder why there are so many thieves in the world, yet rarely would they turn one in if they could.

I am still waiting for a nice story about a thief getting caught and getting some "back yard justice"...that's always nice to hear.......

Just don't offer a large reward with 'no questions asked'. Cause nobody from here will help you.:)
Hope you get the cue back and the scumbag is caught though.

Funny you should mention the thief getting caught. Back in February, I had a Kaiser J/B cue stolen from me. Friday, I walk down to the pool hall where it was stolen from, and lo and Behold! Someone was there playing with it! I immediately confronted the person holding the cue about it. Matched my cue perfectly, EXCEPT HE SANDED DOWN THE SHAFT AND PUT A SLIP ON TIP ON! The cue was beat to shit! The finish damaged, the sanded down shaft (the tip Bulges out since he didn't/couldn't sand it down!) Dings all over the place- its just plain ugly now. Now I'm a decently sized guy- not huge but I'm 6'2-6'3 and I hit up the gym 5 days a week. Mostly cardio so I don't have to worry bout my heart- but still.

I've got my stolen cue in hand- ready to lay out the kid who had it and his friends hes shooting with. The guys running the place called the campus security- I had filled a report before on a note- but they see some drama getting up. So before shit hits the fan, campus security comes in and starts to question everyone about the situation. They take the cue as evidence- but they called and said I'd be getting it back anyways. Its useless to me since I have replaced it now but I'm going to see if I can get the money. I know where the kid lives and where his friend lives so justice will come one way or another.

I'll post pics of the cue when I get it back.

'Justice?' I'm not sure if a $100 Kaiser warrants a felony record. Hope they allow pics from jail.
I wouldn't care if it was a $100 Kaiser, or a $6,000 Boti. Stealing is stealing. And it should mean game over all the same.

Forget the cue pics, and post some pics of the kid after you find him !!!!:D

Happened at the Derby this year. They caught some dude making off with a leather case from one of the vendors. I saw the policeman afterwards (he's there every yr) and asked what happens to the thief? He said "since it's Kentucky, it's pretty much a slap on the wrist. He's charged with petty theft, even though the case was over 400.00. Probably a 75.00 fine, or so.

I told the cop you should have took him outside and 'introduced' him to the vendor he stole the case from....he smiled, and said they did!! Implying the thief got his ass kicked to boot.
