Chalk

As of now, I prefer green Master... I used to play with Silver Cup, but when I tried Master, I never picked up another piece of Silver Cup. I've posted on here before that I would not buy Blue Diamond chalk b/c of the price, but now I really want to try it out and I am considering purchasing a couple of pieces.

I know that Blue Diamond is expensive compared to Master, however I am convinced that it is better chalk after recently buying some from the KOINNKID on this forum. BTW Troy is a great source for Blue Diamond if you want to get some.

What proved the worth of this chalk to me is: I run a drill doing 45 full table straight in shots every day on a 9 ft table. 15 of them I follow into the pocket, 15 I do a stop shot and 15 I draw straight back to the rail. With Masters I would occasionally get a little low and miscue. I have yet to miscue with Blue Diamond. I didnt really think it would make much difference but Pat Diviney of Diviney Cues told me at one of the Midwest Tournaments to try this chalk, this was about two or three years ago and I just got around to getting five boxes from Troy. After using this chalk, I wish I had listened to Pat sooner.

I mean in a match, each person has to weigh how much avoiding a miscue is worth. :)

This is my opinion!

Blue Master.

I tried silver cup and it was ass. Tossed it. Ditto whatever the generic mystery chalk is that we recently got from Seybert's.

Somehow, blue-on-green seems like it doesn't show up nearly as much as any other color on green... including green-on-green. Maybe cuz it's such a light green.

Gray is awful and looks as bad as someone flinging hand powder everywhere.

I use Silver Cup and Blue Diamond

I like Silver Cup as its a finer grit compared to masters, it seems to adhere to the tip well. The only problem i have found with Silver Cup is i can get through a piece of chalk pretty quickly.

I recently brought some Blue Diamond to check out they HYPE. BD plays well and adhere's to the tip very well. Last time when i was at WPC, Souquet told me to use BD as he thinks its the best chalk around. Its good stuff but is expensive, wouldn't say its the NUTZ but it does the job well. I like the texture and it goes on the tip well.

I recently got some NIR chalk from Longoni. This stuff has an electric blue color to it and i think because of the color i don't like it. It makes a mess on my hands and on my cue. The table also looks like a mess too after using it.

Ideally i would use BD as my main chalk, but as it is quite expensive i use Silver Cup instead. For the price of 4 pieces of BD i can get 144 pieces of Silver Cup.

So for now i will stick to Silver Cup

My personal opinion is the Brunswick Blue chalk is quite close in characteristic to BD.

For some reason the masters chalk i used to love seems to be very hard and quite dry..... so i quit using that stuff

What's you favorite brand and color? Do you notice much difference between brands and colors?

Blue chalk, in general, is a disgusting mess. It gets all over your hands and shaft.

I like the green Triangle chalk better than Master chalk. It seems to stay on the tip better. I get less miscues with Triangle chalk than Master chalk.

My favorite chalks are:

1. Korean/Chinese/Thai Green. Has BAIK MA CHALK on the label. I got several pieces from QBilder. Tried googling but can't find it anywhere. Goes on like silk and lasts a LONG time. Probably antique. He picked these up when he was stationed in Korea (YEARS AGO).

2. Blue Diamond. I recently tried out some of the BD. Got a great deal on EBay. Still expensive. A piece seems to last forever. Not overly messy.

3. Silver Cup Green. Works well for me. Doesn't seem to last as long as the 2 above. Not too messy.

4. Masters Blue. Good chalk but MESSY.

Generally prefer green over blue.

Buy Recycled Chalk

I have just returned from a "Green" fair hosted by Al Gore and although they talked alot about plastics, petroleum and CO2, I caught a tidbit about chalk. Yes the little cubes of chalk we use each day. As you know, chalk has been in use since the late 1600s. As a result, the chalk mines in northern Cambodia are being depleted at an alarming rate. What we were unaware of is that while mining this substance, it was being released into the air and blocking out the sunlight which is starving many species of plant in the jungle. Occasionally, the chalk will coagulate and fall from the sky crushing a small child. In additional to this, the monks that mine the chalk become so dehydrated, they sometimes crumble right there on the job.

I am asking that each of you is to chalk your cue over a hankerchief and wipe excess chalk into it after each shot. Please sort it by color. No red chalks please, this is actually powered blood from the mining monks. Each week, please deposit your chalk into the boxes marked "SAVE THE EARTH" at your local pool establishment. I will gather the chalk up, resift it, add tiny hooks for better efficiency and glue new cubes together. I will sell them for 10 cents apiece and donate 100% of the proceeds to the Monk Chalk Miners pension fund.

If we all do our part, our children will also be able to play pool.

So are you saying that you can hit lower on the cueball without miscueing with BD? How much lower? Or are you cueing better now that you are using BD?
:p

Masters Blue....it's cheap and consistent....unfortunately, my chalk has a tendency to walk off so I won't pay more than I have to, damn theives :p

You should copy and paste this post to the Non Pool Related forum. The political party hardliners there literally would probably take great offense and call you a Socialist and accuse you of class warfare. You could have a field day over there.

That red martian chalk should never ever be tolerated.
