Challenge of Champions dump

But they did made that the line and it wasn't bad playing, it was a dump.

The truth is the teacher ---------> Jay spoke the truth !

we all respect your opinion's very, very much - now a word from our sponsor

That's your opinion and Jay's.....we all respect your opinion's very, very much....but you still only know a portion of the "truth"......we can only speculate what really happened to create that situation.

It still doesn't prove anything, it's just two people's opinions on a matter that should have been dropped many years ago......and it had no relevance to Pro Pool then, and certainly doesn't today.

Now a word from our sponsor:

There's the truth and then there's the smoke you're trying to blow up, you know where.

More stupid pictures, we can always count on you C.J.. Yea !

let's simplify this. my 12yr old, in DEC, with ZERO provocation, commented:

- OMG, Mom! even I could have made those shots!
- OMG, Mom! she's a HE!

Ronnie Allen's era.

I have never heard that buddy nick mike Sigel David Howard jim rempe or Mike LeBron are known to dump.

No, they were never associated with "dumping," that was Ronnie Allen's era.

Once you lose your integrity, you never get it back.

The players involved sold their integrity for money. At least they got something for it. People defending and muddying the water here are simply throwing their integrity away with nothing in return? How smart is that?

:rolleyes::confused:

One thing I can say for certain is that I don't question the integrity of Buddy Hall. It is one at the very top in the pool world imo. I don't think anyone here who has spent any time with him would question his integrity, much less the peole who know him, even if it were 100% confirmed to be as Jay claims.

From what I have seen or read here though, people are only assuming what went down and/or why. And that includes Jay.

Because I see him, from my dealings with him and one of my mentors in depth dealings with him, as the type of guy who is honest and you can trust. If anyone who knows him says different I will be surprised.

Even if what Jay claims to "know" turned out to be true I would write it off to Noone being perfect but his integrity would not take one bit of a hit to me. He is still the Buddy I respect.

Just curious - who knocked Hopkins out of this Challenge? Did Hopkins give full effort or half-assed disgusted effort?

If Allen had won, and assuming the 7 man fix was on, it makes me wonder how things might have been different. Would Vegas have kept the books open for future pool? I doubt he'd have had his thumbs broken. ;)

I see what you're saying, but I suppose you and I have different definitions of integrity. I understand how someone could still have your respect as a person, but if we KNOW HE DUMPED FOR A FACT then he has shown his integrity needs to take a hit.

it would be nice to hear from some participants

imo, it was a clear dump and also, no huge deal

if the players took home 10k each between the purse and and the bookie tickets, so be it, cannot fault them too badly, good for them, kinda, we all gotta eat

integrity or lack there of is a fine concept but it's always tied to wealth, very easy to have integrity when the money is rolling in and the bills are paid, not so much when the kids need clothes and food

honestly guys if you're at all watching the news nowadays and seeing the pure evil out there, this "dump" from years ago is the smallest of potatoes

ironically enough, world snooker which is truly the pinnacle of pro cue sports suffers from dumping greatly to this day, among all kinds of other matters from the numerous thugs on the tour as well as all kinds of blatant cover ups from those running the show

pool ain't golf and it ain't the pga and never will be, it is what it is, and will always thrive at the amateur levels as it always has, the pro stuff and pro tour dreams, meh, maybe one day i guess

No matter how you reasonably define integrity, wether it's morals or honesty or whatever Buddy has it imo.

The way I sincerely see this is who really knows what happened? When $10,000 wins you $200,000 I could see a lot of different people getting involved who have nothing to do with pool. Of course I have no knowledge of anything like that happening but I'm just saying no one who has posted here knows anything imo and question in Buddy is wrong.

^^^^ this is just one hypothetical situation to point out that it is easy to assume but who knows for sure.

Interesting. I believe the universally accepted definition of integrity is "doing what's right even when no one is looking". That being the case, I could argue that feeding your kids is the right thing to do no matter how you do it.

But since I don't believe they were dumping to feed their kids, then I cannot respect their move.

Totally understandable. But in your earlier post you said you would even trust him if we were "100%" sure he dumped.

Well if it makes you feel any better I saw Tony Ellin miss a 1ft shot against Hopkins in the Camel tour. It was a cosmo out and he just missed. It was an $8000 shot due to the difference in prize money.

How about the 'gimme' 6ball, Ronnie O. missed recently, for a possible 150,000 pound (200K-USD) swing, in the World Snooker final ?
