Huh? CJ related the truth of it, they played only once and Shane quit. He didn't have to qualify it any farther than that.

But he also said he would play anyone in the USA EXCEPT Shane which should be enough to let you know how highly he regards Shane's game. The only one twisting words is you at the moment by insinuating that CJ is saying he could beat Shane.

CJ bristled when someone said he could get 2:1 on the money playing races to seven against Shane. And why shouldn't he, it's not like CJ is helpless and feeble on the pool table. He is a straight up champion that has beaten all the big names for money and for titles. There is no top player on the planet that doesn't respect CJ's game, then or now.

Only amateur hacks on AZB don't respect him or his game. Which is how the internet works. Where else do you get the opportunity to put down players to their face (virtual face) that you can't beat in a million years? Only here. Because on Facebook they just delete trolls who come at them negatively. That's why most of the pros choose to interact with their fans on Facebook and not on AZB.

Sounds like you bristled over Blue Hogs post,

Sorry you didn't like his post, but Blue Hog is no troll.

I don't like some of your posts but I don't call you a troll,
I joke around or state my feelings, whatever.

CJ definitely has a "following" on AZB, no matter what the subject is!

Could you please learn to use the quote function properly? Otherwise it looks like you attribute things to me that I didn't say.

I don't call everyone a troll. If the shoe fits then wear it. If not then don't worry about it.

This isn't therapy, no one wants to know your feelings if they involve cutting other people's accomplishments down in this setting. Well, maybe some people enjoy seeing people cutting down pros...people to watch other people literally shitting on others in real life as well so for every sick action there is probably someone who enjoys it.

Anyway, I am just ranting about something that will not change for the better EVER. The very nature of the net encourages people to let their feelings out from the safety of their keyboard. None of us would dare to go into a bar and say the horrible things we say to strangers here. Because we would get knocked out.

So express. You and everyone else is safe. Until the day comes that you're not and you're faced with a person who didn't take it so lightly, a person who tracks you down and aims to do something about it. When that comes maybe the last thought will be, "I should have been nicer".

Well if you think I am hanging from his nuts you'd be 100% wrong. My posts are mainly about the utter lack of civility on this forum and the fact that people LOVE to go after those they disagree with by hitting below the belt as often as they can.

I've been sticking up for C. J. not cutting his accomplishments down, what are you talking about, not my feelings (poorly worded) but my thoughts on whatever.

Big deal, I don't know how to use the quote function, that's why I used quotes.
If you don't like it you'll get over it.

I know you have, the point is that the way you quoted it makes it seem like I said things I didn't say.

Already over it. :-)

Iirc they gambled two sets at a tournament and Shane won the first set and CJ the second. And this is long after Shane became known.

I don't know why people here keep dogging CJ as if he can't play.

I mean you can disagree with his views but to dog him like he can't play or is scared to play is kind of another way of not talking about the actual topic in order to get personally insulting.

Here is a played that has stood at the pinnacle of our sport who is willing to answer any question about his experiences and barking at him like this is really disrespectful.

IMO if anyone is going to use the forum to bark at CJ about playing Shane then it should only be guys like John Mars who is always willing and able to put Shane in the box.

Otherwise it's just needling and disrespectful in my opinion.

Couldn't agree more & just to stay on subject, at this point I don't think it matters much if it were a dump & I don't think there was one.

John,
Your quote was exactly what I was agreeing to in my post. I think his "followers" enjoy the fact that they can put a chink in the champ's armor. The "followers" I was talking about were constantly negative stalkers.

Best,
Mike

Thanks. I get all confused these days.

.....CJ is like me outspoken about what he thinks and it doesn't always sit well with others..<--Bingo !.

.....He has said it would only take several weeks to get back into top form, maybe that's true and maybe it isn't but it seems that he would know it better than anyone else..<--John, YOU of all people, should know that "several weeks" is not enough time to do ANYTHING pertaining to pool ! (except maybe prepare for getting your ass beat !)..
..CJ has been 'PREPARING' to learn one pocket, for 30 years ! (Progress report please !)

.....I just think that a lot of people here hit below the belt.<--"There ain't no f-ing rules in a knife fight" (from 'Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid')

.....I have done it and it's been done to me. Some do it out of retaliation and, others just seem to do it out of some kind of sadistic fun.<--"Bingo again" ! (that would be moi).

.....To me going after a known pro player's abilities to his face is kind of a sick move..<--Would it be better to do it behind his back ???

Hi John...Please tell me you missed me ! :p :p :p

Sure I did. When you're not being a complete asshole you're pretty damn funny. Your boy got me just as you predicted. But....as I predicted, no second set.

I guess in keeping with the theme of the thread.....I got a sucker to give me odds that I would win - I bet $40,000 on Lou to win through a shill. Did I make it close enough so no one saw the dump? (I know, you're gonna say Lou was stalling)

Flipped Louie and Backer 10k and came out with 30k profit. :-)

I mean when dogging looks like dumping who knows what reality is?

I thought something was amiss...NOBODY could possibly play that bad, unless they were 'in the tank' !

So, if we don't respect him or his game, we're hacks? Maybe if he doesn't get the respect that you think he deserves, its for things other than that.

I respect a lot of Pros and their ability. Some of the Pros, I do respect their game but their attitudes not so much.

What I don't particularly respect is when people try to misrepresent a story.

I was playing Shane, he quit, I didn't.

Making it sound that Shane was taking such a whooping that he up and quit.

Did Shane have prior commitments or a commitment that he really didn't feel the need to let CJ in on. Could have been any number of things but taking such a whooping from CJ that he quit, I highly doubt it.

So whatever it was it was, but don't try and make it sound to the membership that it was anything but the truth.

if we all agreed on things the world would not be very interesting.

That's for sure, if we all agreed on things the world would not be very interesting....and everyone would be using TOI and creating '3 Part Pocket Zones' with a hammer stroke. ;)

There's one thing that seems odd - a few are indicating, if I can't beat Shane then I'm a "has been" - this is an aggressive referential index, however, I'll take it as a compliment.

I appreciate CJ's posts and forum participation, he brings a lot of knowledge and experience. But that doesn't mean I will always agree with every point of view he expresses. I'm pretty sure he is OK with people disagreeing with him at times...I mean he certainly keeps on posting as if none of it bothers him. He would make a good defense lawyer....but if I was buying a used car from him I would still ask for the CARFAX.

I would have put Shane in the box to play Darrin A.in the Mosconi Cup Finals

I've told the entire story on here before. If it seems I was indicating that Shane isn't a great player you're mistaken....however he did get 8 games ahead, I got even and he quit to play Gabe Owen for less money......I had several players betting on me that must have thought I had a chance. I've played many high-stakes games in my career and didn't give it much thought one way or another.

Shane got my respect at the 2012 Mosconi Cup when I was captain. If Mike or Brandon would have won their last match I would have put Shane in the box to play Darrin A. - I believe in my "heart of hearts" that Shane would have beaten him decisively at that particular moment in time.....I have my reasons and they are far more than just opinion. 'The Game is the Teacher'

"making is sound like" is your interpretation. People project what they want on simple statements.

What I got out of it, they played and Shane is the one who quit.

Out of interest, when did this game take place?

Nope. Opinion is exactly what they are.

Nope. Opinion is exactly what they are.

It was past C.J.'s prime no doubt and probably just before Shane's but what does it matter, they both were still top players and it's the only time they have played I guess.

It's not like Shane was a scrub.

And if somehow Shane gives C.J. 2:1 now in a race to 7, neutral racker; I want to bet on C.J. on as many sets as possible.

Same goes for the 20:1 deal.
