Forget all that nonsense. We aren't EVER going to court and swearing on the bible means nothing anyway. People perjure themselves every day after swearing on a bible. What I will do John is bet you $10,000 I can prove it beyond any shadow of a doubt that it happened. So put up or shut up! I can post immediately if not sooner.

Thanks Jay! I think you could of included CJ Wiley also!

No bet. Someone would probably dump me for it. :)

Plus I already said about two dozen times now that I think it could have happened. But if you're willing to perjure yourself then I have nothing more to say about it.

Case closed. The defense rests.

Then you agree that they are the stupidest dumpers on Earth?

Rempe 5:4

Howard first three games tough run outs - 3:0 loses 5-3. Kinda silly way to dump isn't it?

Hall, hill hill runs out when he doesn't have to to set himself up for what you call an easy combo - kind of stupid to go that far when he could have rattled a ball before that.

I think you got it backwards. Mike has already dogged some balls and gave the game back. Buddy was just running out for him,:wink:funny thing, it almost backfired at the end.

How can you be sure CJ was not just acting as Jay's set man? I have heard of some intricate set ups in pool also.;)

there's millions of people that believe they didn't evolve from monkeys

Thanks Frank, some people (Millions actually!) still believe in Creation as opposed to Evolution. They truly believe the Earth is only 6000 years old in spite of all the evidence to the contrary. We live in an age of mass ignorance, and this thread is one small example of that.

There's more than just "black and white" - there's millions of people that believe they didn't evolve from monkeys AND believe the world's millions (if not billions) of years old.

I don't even think it's that. I think he just saw CJ arguing there was no dump, and he can't pass up an opportunity to brown nose to him.

You're full of shit. You didn't bother to read what I actually wrote and I had the exact same argument on this topic long before CJ was a member here.

Asinine trolls.

All so quick to convict aren't you?

I remember because I was going to do bet $200., but couldn't

I don't even think it's that. I think he just saw CJ arguing there was no dump, and he can't pass up an opportunity to brown nose to him.

I've said over and over that I have no idea what Buddy was thinking or doing that day, it's just proper respect to give him the benefit of the doubt. The points I've made have to do with people saying that this 'Challenge of Champions' hurt pro pool and the ability to gamble and/or have events at Casinos.

No matter what happened in that final it had no negative effects on Pro Pool and the 'Challenge of Champions' went on (unscathed) another 20+ years and generated millions for Matt Braun, ESPN and some industry businesses.

I played in one of the next 'Challenge of Champions' (94) and could have bet on myself getting 7/2 on the money. This means I could have made three and a half times my money.......and probably retire on a uncharted island off the coast of South America.

Incidentally, I remember because I was going to do bet $200., but couldn't get the rest of the players to dump off the tournament to bet 7/2 on me - I'm still hot about that!

You figured it out....Buddy Hall lost so the terrorists couldn't win in 1991. (they had to wait 10 more years)

Jay's religious reference will probably add another 100 pages. I would like to hear Earthquake's opinion on this. He is pretty familiar with Buddy's game I think, if he watched the last two games, I wonder what his take would be. As most know, Buddy was known for his excellent cueball control, those scratches and near scratches are highly suspect.

these weren't "Diamond Tables" although I doubt if Buddy had ever played on them

I know if you're not used to Diamond Tables it's easy to scratch a lot in the side (because the angles are so much different than Gold Crowns). I played on Diamonds at a tournament that Vivian hosted in McAllen Texas a couple of weeks ago and had a lot of trouble adjusting.

This may not be the reason Buddy had trouble with his position, these weren't "Diamond Tables" although I doubt if Buddy had ever played on them before this tournament.

How many times did you scratch or dog the 8 or 9 when you played for $100K against Vivian?
I believe that was for 100K.
I don't recall you missing.

My game became very sharp in the mid 90s on ESPN (and TV in general), however, I don't think it was Buddy's forte....Buddy liked to play deliberately and on ESPN sometimes they rush you and the environment is tough to play well in.

The TV lights, the polished balls, and the camera men appearing out of the corner of your eye is sometimes interfering with optimum performance. Playing TV matches is NOT an exact science and it may appear easy, and sometimes it can be very challenging.

This is why in all fairness I'd like to hear the opinions of other players that have TV experience......I don't know of anyone that's ever missed a shot from the chair or sidelines.

I did see Tony Ellin and Jimmy Wetch all shaken by tv in the Legends of 9-Ball .
Jimmy was nervous as hell when he played Efren in the finals of PBT World 8-Ball at the Riviera. So scared, in the first game, he slammed the 8 in one corner and it went the other corner.
And in the last game he drew the cueball to the side pocket when all he need was draw it a foot.

But, I don't buy Buddy being so bad on tv.
The sum of all parts from that event and Jay telling it was a dump are good enough for me to be convinced it was a fix.

if you or anyone else believes it was "a fix" then there's nothing that can be done

Let's face the facts, if you or anyone else believes it was "a fix" then there's nothing on earth than can change your minds.

Buddy says he "dogged his brains out," and that's how it appears to anyone that doesn't believe in the "fix theory".

I've said all along that I don't know for sure what Buddy was thinking - I do know that the match didn't get investigated by the Mirage, the PBTA, Matt Braun or the Nevada Gaming Commission......so if there was anything wrong it didn't raise the concern of any of the governing bodies of pool, gambling, or the 'Challenge of Champions'

No bet. Someone would probably dump me for it. :)

So, you're accusing Jay of being a Crook and getting an accomplice to Dump you for the money.
You have been defending Buddy all along, being accused of not being honest. Jay offers to prove you wrong but it will cost you to find out.
Now you're accusing Jay of not being honest. Do you remotely see the Hypocrisy in this?

Plus I already said about two dozen times now that I think it could have happened.

And you already stated that you don't buy it either. Or can't you make up your mind what you believe, maybe just arguing for the sake of watching yourself type. If you don't believe in yourself or your opinions strongly enuff, how is anyone else supposed to.

But if you're willing to perjure yourself then I have nothing more to say about it.

You essentially called Jay a Crook, now you're calling him a liar. Here is your chance to make 10 grand. Prove Jay is lying.
And let us Pray that you have nothing more to say about it.

Case closed. The defense rests.

And so should you. I mean, your mouth has gotten you into trouble once again, you can't back it up so your only recourse is to call Jay a Crook and a Liar.

Are you the Defense or the Prosecutor? See the second Quote. Order in the Court here. Do you see any value what so ever in continuing to
post in this thread.

John, you are a complete Wentzler. Please consider relocating to WentzleVille.

Oh screw off. I wasn't calling Jay a crook. See the big smiley after the sentence.

Frankly it isn't worth two cents for me to know either way. I said it could have happened but I don't think it did and gave my reasons for thinking that.

I certainly am not going to bet any ****ing thing on this. But I will bet that I can find 100 people who can look at footage and not think dump. Then I can find another hundred and make the majority of them day it was a dump.

Bet me on that if you got any balls. If not shut up.

Nonsense. You don't need to have heard the "fix theory" to see Hall is throwing that match. Look at his reactions to his misses. Great pool player? Yes. Good actor? Hell no.
